A Dalton Photography class collaboration with Sonoma Academy, Sonoma, California. Students at Sonoma Academy (CA) and Dalton(NY) were asked to put themselves in an implausible situation that was stereotypically Californian or NYC. These images were sent across the coast and students were then asked to meet in the virtual world by adding themselves to the California or New York scenes. The 15 below pictures were taken by students at Dalton and digitally altered by Sonoma Academy photo students.

Students in Dalton’s advanced high school photography class took pictures that represented living in New York and printed their images onto black and white photo postcard paper. Students from St Andrews School in Argentina photo class printed their color images taken in Argentina. The two classes exchanged postcards via mail and altered each other’s postcards using painting, collage, drawing, sewing, and a variety of other media. Personal messages were written on the back of the postcards. Students were encouraged to experiment with many different media and to think about the relationship of the image to the chosen medium. The altered images were then returned to their original senders.
