We have begun a collaboration between our high school photography class and Sonoma Academy’s photo class. Students exchanged digital portraits of each other and each student included a short paragraph about themselves. Prior to reading their paragraphs, our students viewed their photos and wrote a paragraph guessing the identity of each person in the photos. Our final step in this project will be to digitally alter the portraits….

My name is Henry. I am 16. I live on a ranch. I enjoy fishing and bow hunting. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a hedgehog. I also enjoy playing the drums and piano. I love burgers and iced tea. I go to Sonoma Academy. I run track and field in the spring and compete in the 300 hurdles, 100-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash. I am also a ballroom dance instructor for junior high students. I’ve been studying dance for four years. My name is Lupita and I go to Sonoma Academy. I live in Santa Rosa, really close to the school.I am a sophomore and I play on the JV basketball team. I am currently studying Chinese and know a little bit of Spanish. I am 14 years old and one of the youngest people in the class of 2014. I have two siblings, an older brother in college and a younger sister who is an 8th grader. I have 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 6 chickens. DALTON GUESS: We think hr name is “Emma” –good at chemistry -tutor -likes books, sports, strawberries -gives to the community, but doesn’t want recognition for it. Does a lot of out of school activities -applying early decision to college -great teeth -plays tennis -listens to top 100 -plays violin or cello -has an uncle who listens to traditional music

Hey oh! my name is Clare. I am a Junior at Sonoma Academy. I have lots of friends. I live in the Napa Valley, I’ve lived her for 11 years. I moved here from Houston, Texas when I was five. Some times I sit at home by myself, sometimes I don’t. My best friend Dylan is in a dance crew, I’m his one and only groupie. You may have heard of them. I play lacrosse and run cross country and I used to play volleyball as the libero. I’m looking at colleges in NYC, maybes we can meet sometime. I have an obsession with Starbucks, sometimes I even have coffee delivered when I’m in class, Hillary make me sit outside and drink it so I wont spill on all the computers. I have just recently qualified for the gold card. I teared up just a smidge with pride in myself. I’m known as Chris. I think Coke is better than Pepsi, but I love Dr. Pepper cuz its the best soda ever. Video games are cool and I play tennis when I’m not being a total gamer. Homework is a pain, who doesn’t think that? I am not the most popular guy in the school. With friends I believe in quality vs. quantity. I somehow always seem to associate myself with the most weird people in the school. I have three kitties: one super cute, one super normal, and one super stupid in every way who also has some sort of foot fetish… I don’t know… he’s crazy like that. I’m also a middle child. I have an older brother and a younger sister. yea… that’s it. DALTON GUESS: We think his name is “Phil” -very funny -wears contacts -peer tutor -has one favorite teacher- they have a close relationship -has older brother that he’s being compared to -can’t wait to go to college/ not sure what he’s going to study

My name is Annie I live in the Napa Valley and absolutely love living there. I am captain of the volleyball team and for once, our team is doing well (we are now third in league). I am a senior and am loving this year so far. I have better friends than ever and our class as a whole gets a long really well. I have played the piano for thirteen years and will continue to play for the rest of my life most likely. My family and I do a lot of traveling and we have been to such places as Africa, Europe and all over the US. My name is Gisella and I attend Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, but I live in Napa. I am very shy due to the fact that I am an only child. I have one pet dog and her name is Uva, which in Spanish means “grape” we named her Uva because both my parents work in the wine industry. I love to run and I participate in Track in field, I run the 4 by 1, 2 by 4, 100m and 200m dash. I love Chinese food and ice cream. Favorite season is the summer because I love the heat and the sun. My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice. DALTON GUESS: We think her name is : “Zoe” -very sweet -good at science/ loves painting. She has taken all of the advanced painting classes the school has to offer, now taking photography -very chill -piercing indicates she has an edge -very artsy , but somewhat conservative -Loves all music -makes cupcakes for bake sales -speaks at assembly -won’t let you cheat on a test

My name is Coulter. I live in the country. I have 1 German Shepard, 3 cats, and a koi pond. My family owns 15 acres and I like to hunt. I love to eat steak and drink root beer. I am 15 and just got my permit. I play baseball and lacrosse in the spring. I also like to drive nitro powered r/c cars. Mine goes about 55 mph. In the winter I am a skiing fanatic. I like to ski at Northstar at Tahoe. I can also snowboard if I want to. This year I have a French foreign exchange student living with me. His name is Baptiste and he is from Paris. My name is Robert. I’m going to be truthful with you. I’m not going to say that I was born three hundred years ago and was raised in the Sahara Desert by Jawas (even though it’s true). I’m 15 years old and live in Windsor CA. I have lived in the same house for 13 years. Before I came to Sonoma Academy, I was at the same school for 9 years. I have two dogs, an outside dog and an inside dog. I love exotic and nice cars. My dad and I have a friend that is a race car driver and we get to go down to the track a lot and watch. We are also very big fans of formerly top secret military planes. DALTON’S GUESS : we think his name is “Fred” or “Jerry” class clown, sometimes goes too far “Skylar” is weirded out by him -eats a tuna sandwich for lunch every day -loves pasta with parmesian -picky eater – runs around school/ always shows up at class out of breath, but on time -in some clubs, but doesn’t do sports -drinks Pepsi at 7am -likes M&M, rap, Death Cab for Cutie

My name is Dylan I play lacrosse and soccer. I am in a male dance group called Butterfly Jamz. Look us up on youtube. I’m actually from California, I hit on beach babes and my school looks like a ski resort. We have elevators at our school too but you aren’t allowed to use them, it’s lame. My sister isn’t as cool as me, but she is okay. She is a nerd, unlike me (I’m the hot shot of the school) . Sukrum si eman ym, let it look in a mirror. Keep you teeth in the air and your eyes screwed in straight, but only if you want to. I would say walk around backwards sometimes, so you might be able to feel the loose dirt with your toes and realise direction is definable only by a head and its thoughts. Quantum Physics man, it’s a trip. Little electrons popping up everywhere then disappearing like some sort of idea. And who said things were going to make sense? Put my face up somewhere nice please, that way I can see across the country with telescope glasses and look around at all the shadow faced people, going about their shadow face days, and talking with their shadow faced friends. To them I will look like a shadow probably… That would be wonderful. – Marcus DALTON GUESS: We think his name is “Skylar” . He’s a hipster -listens to Sigur Ros, Suf Jan Stevens, Belle and Sebastian -likes a good book -doesn’t play guitar , but interested in his friends who play instruments -spends his nights sneaking into the city -doesn’t like sports -only child -great at ping pong -every weekend argues with parents about not getting a haircut -likes early Green Day , but won’t admit it. -Takes pride in his perfect skin -we are curious about his footwear

Hello my name is Carsen and I attend Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, California. I enjoy playing sports. The ones I currently am playing are basketball and lacrosse. I also really enjoy dancing and watching movies with my friends. I have a younger sister named Kamryn and I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. My cat’s names are Claire and Charlie and my dog’s names are Shep and Shasta. I really like living in California and hopefully I will be able to visit the east coast again soon. / DALTON’S GUESS: Carsen – we think her name is “Julia” -very artistic -doesn’t look like an artist, but makes great art/ best artist in the class -best photographer in class -shy -likes horseback riding -only child -she fences -writes poetry, but doesn’t share her poems -has a great voice , but won’t sing in front of anyone -has many keepsakes -uses many highlighters in class -well rounded and down to earth -very cool and talented
