Name: Natalie Martin
Grade: Senior
Role: Founder, Writer, and Editor in Chief
Reason for joining the club: Over the past few years, I have developed a strong passion for finance and found myself looking for ways in which I could further pursue this interest both inside and outside of Dalton. Therefore, I was inspired to create this newsletter to cultivate a community of students who, like myself, wanted to strengthen their understanding of the economy while educating others.
Favorite section of The Bottom Line: Startups to Watch — I love learning about new companies and hearing which structural components are believed to lend themselves to prospective growth opportunities.
Fun Fact: I love solving crossword puzzles!
Name: Alyssa Fan

Role: Managing Editor and Contributing Writer
Reason for joining the club: As my knowledge about finance has grown, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the nuances that make the stock market so intricate and volatile. Through writing for The Bottom Line I hope to continue discovering more peculiarities that capture my and the readers’ interests.
Favorite section of The Bottom Line: Breaking Financial News — it’s very easy to get caught up in statistics and news constantly being released, and I think highlighting any mergers, acquisitions and major current events that stood out and had a large impact on stocks provides an important snapshot for anyone interested in finance.
Fun Fact: I really like the show Survivor; I’ve seen all 40 (hopefully soon 41) seasons and will go back to watch my favorites even though I know the winners.

Reason for joining the club: Throughout my high school career, I have always wanted to channel my excitement for learning about finance and the economy into something enjoyable, and joining The Bottom Line gave me that opportunity. Not only do I get to write about something I am passionate about every month, but I also get to learn about new and upcoming ideas in the finance world. That is truly the best part of the Bottom Line experience, and the reason I joined the club.
Favorite section of The Bottom Line: Startups to Watch – I enjoy learning about how and why new companies are projected to be so successful every month.
Fun Fact: I enjoy reading and dancing.
Name: Jenna Ryan
Grade: Senior
Role: Contributing Writer and Editor
Reason for joining the club: At Dalton, most classes are not focused on educating students about modern finance and patterns in the stock market. I believe that upon graduating Dalton, it is important to understand these complex systems as they are a large part of the economy. By participating in the creation of “The Bottom Line” I am improving my personal knowledge of these topics, while also providing resources for other students to learn more.
Favorite section of The Bottom Line: The simple but informative “Term of the Week” section is my favorite because it allows me to solidify my understanding of a word or phrase that I hear frequently when engaging in conversations about the economy.
Fun Fact: I have a rescue dog named Ollie!

Role: Contributing Writer and Editor
Reason for joining the club: Writing has always been a big part of my life, and especially my Dalton high school career. I already write for the Daltonian and Blue Flag, so I was extremely excited to hear about a more specialized writing publication that I could explore a new narrative and style in. After participating in the coveted sixth grade stock market game, I became increasingly interested in the stock market and making smart investments. I can’t wait to learn more about the finance world through doing this club.
Favorite section of The Bottom Line: Breaking Financial News — It’s always nice to know what my family is discussing around the dinner table when they bring up the finance world, and I enjoy the fact that I can now participate in those conversations because of this section.

I specifically enjoyed writing my article, The GameStop Frenzy–How Young Investors Forced Wall Street to Pay Attention! It was fascinating to examine the role of the stock market and retail investors in innovating change.
Fun Fact: I am working with the start-up, Pink Hub to develop a mobile app companion for women living with breast cancer. Our goal is to empower, inform and connect, so women do not have to search and suffer alone!
