Hello. Questions one and two address similar issues in that they both ask the context of the usage of the lock. From the looks of it, I would probably guess that the lock was used to protect more valuable objects. As for question number 3, the lock was seemingly used to protect things. And as you described it had a flap protecting the actual keyhole. Question number 4 also addresses the issue of usage of locks opposed to guards, etc. A question I would ask is about the particular shape of the key and how that affected its particular function.
