Rouge Box
Sketch #1
1. Who used this object?
2. How often was it used?
3. How valuable is this object?
4. It is very beautifully made, so was it used as a decorative object also?
They’re good questions, I just wonder if maybe you could be a little bit more specific? These are pretty general questions that would obviously be helpful (because you do need basic information on the object), but I’m not sure that they would tell you very much about the culture. Instead of just asking “Who used this object?”, I’d take it a step further and question if it was only high-ranking people who had such objects, or if they were of the norm. Also, I’d question which gender used this object. I don’t know when or where it’s from, but I know that during the time of Louis XIV (Late 1600s), men wore a lot of make up. I think it’d help a lot if you were just a bit more specific/detailed.
