Jimbaori Sketch #1:
1. Who made the jimbaoris – were there special craftsmen in charge of this task?
2. What determined a high-ranking samurai who would wear this object? Was it because of which family were you born to, or was it determined by skill?
3. Did thicker, more protective fabric/material determine how highly ranked a samurai was?
4. How does this compare with Chinese armor? Did they wear anything similar or was this a type of armor specific to Japan?
Just for clarification, a jimbaori is a jacket of sorts that a samurai would wear over his armor.
Your questions are good overall, but another interesting question I think you could ask, is if there were any significant changes in the style of the jimbaori over time.
