I think that questions 2 and 4 are very good. I think that with question 1, there should be some idea behind what the connotation would be whether or not he actually ever fired the pistol. In regards to question 3, it is a little broad. Maybe there should be a follow-up question to specify, because depending on the time period or the area, the answer could differ.
