Summer is a time for recreational reading, for exploring new books or reading those that you never had time for during the busy school year. Although we hope that you will read voraciously this summer, we request that <strong>each of you reads a minimum of two\u00a0books of your own choosing<\/strong>. \u00a0You may choose books from the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dalton.org\/mslibrary\/?page_id=1707&amp;preview=true\" target=\"_blank\">2016\u00a0Recommended Summer Reading for Rising 7th and 8th Grade Students<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a title=\"Recommended Book Series\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dalton.org\/mslibrary\/recommended-book-series\/\" target=\"_blank\">Recommended Book Series<\/a>\u00a0lists, prepared by Mrs. Feldman, or explore bookstores and libraries for great new titles and classics.<\/p>\n<p>Please also read S.E. Hinton\u2019s\u00a0<em><strong>The Outsiders<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and George Orwell&#8217;s<em>\u00a0<strong>Animal Farm<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>in late August or early September so that you will be able to discuss it during the first week of school. In other words, you should read at least\u00a0<strong>FOUR<\/strong>\u00a0books over the summer.
