Summer is a time to relax and experience books that you did not have time for during the busy school year. Although we hope that you will read with gusto many many books this summer, we request that each of you read <strong>a minimum of four\u00a0books of your own choosing<\/strong>. \u00a0You may choose books from the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dalton.org\/mslibrary\/2015-summer-recommended-reading-for-rising-7th-and-8th-grade-students\/\" target=\"_blank\">2015\u00a0Summer Recommended Reading for Rising 7th and 8th Grade Students<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a title=\"Recommended Book Series\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dalton.org\/mslibrary\/recommended-book-series\/\" target=\"_blank\">Recommended Book Series<\/a>\u00a0lists, prepared by Mrs. Feldman, or explore bookstores and libraries for great new titles and classics. \u00a0\u00a0The High School Library&#8217;s summer reading recommendations\u00a0is a good place to look for solid summer reads, too!<\/p>\n<p>Please\u00a0keep track of the books you read, and we will ask that you share your reading log with us in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>We also require that every student must also have finished reading\u00a0<em><strong>Annie John<\/strong><\/em><b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>by Jamaica Kincaid\u00a0before the beginning of the\u00a0new school year in preparation of in-depth discussion during English.<\/p>\n<p>We wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you this fall!<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Bachrach and Andrea DeJesus<br \/>\n8th Grade English Teachers<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Rising Eighth Grade Student, Reading is crucial to your continuing academic success and we believe that recreational reading enriches your personal life.
