In honor of Black History Month, 2nd grade read another classic Southern tale:
Precious and the Boo Hag by Patricia C. McKissack.
It has been fascinating to compare the different stories we have read and see what common themes are threaded throughout. Characters are faced with challenges and often look to an element of the supernatural to overcome them. The stories are an interesting reflection of different ways people have tried to cope with difficult times throughout history.
