Books We Read In Library: Grade 3

In honor of Black History Month, 3rd graders have been hearing some classic African-American folktales from the South.

The Dark Thirty: Southern Tales of the Supernatural by Patricia McKissack is a wonderful collection of haunting stories.  Students have been on the edge of their seats!

This year a whopping FIVE books won the Caldecott Honor Medal (silver)!

Students have really enjoyed comparing all the winners and giving their opinion about the results.

All the students in every grade have been so excited to talk about the 2013 Caldecott Award and Newbery Award winners.  The American Library Association announced the winners of all their book awards on Monday, January 28th.

It’s a new year and a new library blog!

As they become more independent library users, Third Grade students have started to learn more about our online catalog.

Developing their understanding of how the system works will help them tremendously as they navigate the stacks for research and leisure reading.
