We’ve now moved on to a new continent: South America!

What Made Tiddalik Laugh is a fun old aboriginal tale retold by Joanna Troughton.
It was hilarious to watch all the animals struggle to find ways to make Tiddalik the frog laugh. The illustrations featured all types of unique animals from Australia!
For the next leg of our journey, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students headed to Asia!
With so many amazing countries in one continent, it was difficult to choose what stories to read!
In the end, we focused on folktales from the beautiful land of India.
Kindergarten and First Grade students continued their travels with our next stop: Africa.
Students really enjoyed hearing a variety of classic tales from different countries in the vast continent.
This week, Kindergarten and First Grade students started their voyage by heading to Europe!
What’s better to help us appreciate Europe than the lovely Italian folklore of Strega Nona and her sidekicks, Big Anthony and Bambolona? Since Tomie DePaola’s characters are so well-known, we looked at a variety of their stories and voted on which one to share as a group.
It’s the exciting time of year when Kindergarten and 1st Grade students begin our “travels” with Stories Around the World! From now on when we are together in library classes, we will be reading stories from different countries across the globe. By the time summer arrives, we will have “visited” every continent!

In honor of April being National Poetry Month, Kindergarten and First Grade library classes are enjoying some wonderful poems by famous children’s writers like Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky. We love their humor!
The whole country honors Dr. Seuss this month because Theodor Seuss Geisel’s birthday was in March. Kindergarten and 1st Grade Houses read a variety of whimsical rhyming Dr. Seuss books to celebrate!
In honor of the upcoming festive holiday of St. Patrick’s Day, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students read some lovely old Irish tales.
This month we applaud the talent of several ladies and gentlemen who earned the prestigious Caldecott Award and Newbery Award for their work in children’s literature.
