* This month’s Genres are Mysteries and Horror Stories.
You will accomplish this assignment, return the book, and hand in your finished work on the assigned date (given in classes.)
Horror/Mystery Stories Assignment
After finishing reading your book, you will design and make a small poster (on 8.5” x 11” copy-paper) to “advertise” it. The flyer will contain the following:
- A visual representation of the characters, scenes, or objects that will grab a viewer’s attention and convey the “atmosphere” of the story. (You may use the book’s cover as inspiration but please do not copy the design, and definitely not paste the cover art directly onto your poster.) You can hand-draw, design with a computer graphic tool, or compose a collage. Restriction - You may only use these three colors: black, white, and red.
- 2 to 4 Phrases that represent the content of the book and will persuade a potential reader to read it. (Remember the movie posters we have viewed during class with those short, memorable, and powerful taglines!)
- Title of the book/story and author must be prominent on the poster. Your own name should also be included — as part of the design or just a signature.
DO NOT SUMMARIZE THE STORY AND
DO NOT COPY DESCRIPTION FROM THE BOOK.
