Summer Reading Letter for Rising 7th Graders
Dear Rising 7th Graders,
Reading is a very important part of your experience at Dalton, and we hope that each of you will become a life-long pleasure reader. Summer is a time for recreational reading, for exploring new books or reading those that you never had time for during the busy school year. Although we hope that you will read voraciously this summer, we request that each of you reads a minimum of three books from the Summer Reading Recommendations for Rising 7th and 8th Graders, prepared by Mrs. Feldman.
In addition, please read S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders in late August or early September so that you will be able to discuss it during the first week of school. In other words, you should read at least FOUR books over the summer.) You must keep track of the books you read, and we will ask that you share your summer reading with us in some form, either oral or written, in the fall. To get you excited about the first part of your history unit, the 7th grade history teachers highly recommend that one of your summer reading titles is Nancy Farmer’s Sea of Trolls.
Sincerely,
7th Grade English Teachers
