Do You Know Books?! Winners Circle

Filed under: Events, General News — Roxanne Feldman at 12:58 pm on Monday, February 22, 2010

On February 19th, the 4th and 5th graders had fun at the Library Quiz Show: Do You Know Books?!

We thank all the students who read diligently and participated actively in the show.  70 students signed up and we managed to bring up on stage 42 students.   Since there are still many questions to be asked so the students who did not get to go on stage will have a chance to continue playing the game during their Library classes.  Some of their classmates might also have a go at answering the questions.

Congratulations to the Top Contestants (answering more than five questions in a row)

Welcome Back

Filed under: General News — Roxanne Feldman at 11:45 am on Monday, September 14, 2009

Welcome back and welcome to the 4th graders who started their life at Big Dalton today!

We have a lot of exciting things going on at Dalton in the 2009-2010 school year.

All of the middle school students will have a chance to work with Mr. David Macaulay, children’s book creator and Dalton’s Orginal Mind scholar this year, on many areas of their studies: from cities to medieval history, and hopefully everyone will put his/her marks on paper in this Year of the Sketch Book.

For 5th graders and houses, it is exciting that Katherine Paterson, author of famous children’s books such as The Great Gilly Hopkins, Lyddie, and Bridge to Terabithia will be coming to Dalton in late October when we host a world-wide WebCast for Miss Paterson.

Also in the works are bringing back Middle School Book Fair in the spring and Library Literary Labs for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  Stay tuned for information

And of course, the exciting and fun “Do You Know Books!” game show will be held for 4th and 5th graders again.
