As Matthew said, I was rooting for you and hoping you would all get in, even those of you with shady characters. I’m sorry that not everyone made it. In my book, each of your characters were winners. How about some Halloween fun? We will be celebrate Halloween after our Ellis Island trip. We get back to school at 2:30, just in time to have a 45 minute party. We can’t dress up for our field trip, as it wouldn’t be appropriate to go to a national historic site dressed as ghouls. However, if you want to bring a mask or hat, that would be fine. We won’t have time to change into our full costumes because our party is too short. I think you would agree with me when I say, we’ll have a blast anyway.

Homework this evening consists of your usual 30 minutes of reading and an additional 20 minutes of writing. For your writing assignment you should consider the question, “Who is selfish in Charlotte’s Web?” Make an outline and write your paragraph. If you have not finished your hero piece start there. You should not work for more than 20 minutes on writing. So don’t worry if you don’t finish. But, do try to make tracks.
