I think you should read this book. I felt like I was there. The book is full of adventures like the one when the family was on the boat. When it was stormy, the people were screaming and throwing up because they were seasick. I learned that a lot of people in America were from other countries and they spoke different languages and came for a better life.

It is an interesting book because it is realistic fiction. I did not know that back then people were so poor. The book taught me that people did not have a lot of food so people had to go to a new land and they had to have enough money to go on a boat. They had to know where a good land was. It was probably so hard to know where to go because there was no Internet. They could not look at where there could be a good place to go that was somewhere around them.

This is a very good book. It is realistic fiction. The characters are brave because they were willing to take a long boat ride. Lots of people were getting seasick. I learned that the boat trip was really scary.
