I love this book because it is interesting and little bit scary. I also found a lot of passages that were really interesting. Abbie’s family lives in a lighthouse. Her mom is sick and Abbie has three sisters and one brother. Her dad asked her to take care of the lighthouse and keep the lights burning when he was going to town to get food, oil and medicine. My favorite character is Abbie because she is an interesting girl. She is really brave and good at doing her job. I thought it was cool that her dad could sail a boat in the rain and fog. This is a true story and it is hard to believe because the ocean was so powerful, the waves were so large and the wind was blowing so hard, but Abbie was able to do her job.

Emi, I also loved the book because even at the end when the storm came, Abbie took care of the chickens. Since she took care of them, they were able to make eggs. I think that Abbie and the father were both my favorite characters because they were both very responsible. The father was trying to help the mother since she was sick and Abbie was helping her family and keeping the lights burning in case other people were coming.
