あした、コロンビア大学(だいがく)でまつりがあります。
Columbia Japan Society will hold annual Japanese festival tomorrow.
Let’s go and enjoy the まつり!Please meet up at 3:30 in the lobby and  come together.

..::CJS MATSURI 2008 in only one week::..

Columbia Japan Society (CJS) of Columbia University in the City of NewYork (CU) will be holding its annual Japanese festival on the iconicLow Plaza!In its 5th year running, CJS MATSURI has become an important traditionfor the Columbia University community. This time, its scale in everyrespect is greater than ever before. Restaurants, corporations,student organizations, and perfomers from all over New York arecoming, as well as groups from within Columbia University. The eventis also being co-organized by the New York Japanese StudentAssociation (NYJSA). 

CJS will be providing its very own entertainment on and off stage:Traditional festival attractions as goldfish scooping and shateki aswell as wacky Japanese game show style stage performances. Also don’tmiss the gigantic curry eating competition where contestants will becompeting to devour a 2kg platter of curry entirely live! 

In our restaurant corner, try food from Go Go Curry, a midtown curryrestaurant which is providing the curry for the curry eating contest;Cecel Cafe Crepe, an East Village-based Japanese style crepe shop; andOMS/B a popular Japanese riceball shop amongst Midtown businessmen.

Performances on stage range from thousands of years old musicaltradition, GAGAKU, from Columbia’s Ethnomusicology Department; TAIKO,from Teacher’s College Taiko Society; Happy Fun Smile, an Okinawanband based in New York, and several other surprise guests!

What’s best is this event is, in Japanese “omake” spirit, totally free! There is noadmission fee, event goods such as fans and booklets are free, gamesand performances are free, and even chances to win fantastic prizes asbig as airline tickets are entirely free!

So come enjoy a wonderful afternoon with CJS at CJS MATSURI. You areguaranteed to have a cultural experience as well as some wacky, CJSfun! Check out our website below for more information on the event!
