How should the United States approach its relationship to China? Possiblities for discussion may be endless but, in order to foster discussion I will posit three: 1) The United States can adopt a competitive framework. This comes from a sense of having its power threatened by the Chinese; 2) The United States can adopt a cooperative framework. This would mean reaching for agreement whenever possible?; 3) the United States would take a stretegic approach to its relationship, cooperating when need be but maintaining a competetitve stance in areas where it is deemed that it would suit its strategic position.
