How to Navigate House 43 Digest Online
Welcome to House 43 Digest Online, our own classroom blog!
Blogging is new to many people, including us! The idea to go online with House 43 Digest grew out of our newsletter, House 43 Digest, created to provide information to families about the exciting activities, projects, experiences and milestones of House 43 students. We will continue to publish both House 43 Digest and House 43 Digest Online. Offering top line summaries and announcements, House 43 Digest will continue to offer bi-weekly information as a 2-page PDF sent to families via email. House 43 Digest Online will provide readers with interactive and connected information on this blog, allowing families the opportunity to dive as deeply as they would like in to classroom projects and student work.
This page is here to guide you through the blog and will function as a welcome page to House 43 Digest Online for the first month. After the month it will move to the right sidebar under “Pages.”
Speaking about “Pages,” I will tell you a little bit about a page. A page is a site for information that a reader might want to retrieve at any point in blog post reading. These pages are reference sites. The first one, “Home,” brings you back to the first page of the blog. The next page is called “About.” It gives you some information about the purpose of the blog. “Photo Page Archive” is a reference page with links to all House 43 photos.
Above “Pages” is a pull down menu, titled, “Categories.” Please pull down the menu and click on any of the categories listed, which will bring you directly to postings under that category. Some future categories will be Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, House, and Student Work. Within those categories will be sub-categories on any of the projects in process or completed by House 43 students. For example, any Archaeology Diary entries and photo links will be found under “Archaeology,” which is a part of “Social Studies.” In order to find a student’s work, please look under your child’s initials under “Student Work.”
As with most blogs, House 43 Digest Online accepts comments, and we invite you to so so. The children would love to see that their parents have commented on their student work, I am sure!
“Recent Posts” links you to the most current postings of House 43. They are listed in reverse chronological order, first one being the most recent. You might want to click on these links when you want to read about the most recent activities of House 43.
“Archaeology Links,” “Curriculum Links,” “Community Links,” and “NOLA Buddies” are links to other websites or blogs in these related categories. For example, under “NOLA Buddies,” we provide readers a link to the Coastal Roots website, the program with which Lusher students are affiliated.
“Search Posts” allows you to search the postings for keywords to help you find a specific post. “Archives” is a repository of posts, organized by month.
“Meta” is for the teachers who maintain this site and keep it current.
We hope you enjoy using House 43 Digest Online!
