The reason I like pancakes

The reason I like pancakes, is because they taste so sweet!
There very very yummy, and I think they are a treat!
I really like them cooked,
just by me.
Because I think they are the most yummy!
I like to make them into dumplings,
so I can pour,
butter on the top.
It’s one thing that is very special,
and can’t by in a shop!
I cook them so the outside is still very crispy.
But the inside is,
sill mushy.
And if I pour some chocolate inside,
it all gets warm and squishy!
When it’s cooked and ready,
I put it on my plate.
And once I take a bite,
I think it is just great!

How the Northeast played

Many years ago, the Native Americans lived in the United States and some still do today. They lived in five regions: The northeast, the southeast, the northwest, the southwest, and the plains and prairies. The region we’re talking about today is the northeast. Before European contact, the northeast Native Americans lived in the area of where, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Ohio, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan are today. In this paper, were going to talk about how the northeast Native Americans played: What games did they play? Do they have toys? And, how did they make toys? If you’re wondering just that, then you have picked the right paper!

Playing with toys

Chapter 1

Different toys
Often in the Northeast, the children would play with toys. The toys they played with are: Wooden dolls, cattail ducks, cornhusk dolls, and toy axes.

Who played with what?
The girls played with the wooden dolls, cattail ducks, and cornhusk dolls.
The boys, to pretend they were chopping down a tree like the men, played with the toy axes. We play with toys and so did the Native Americans.

Games they played

Chapter 2

The games they would play
Now it is important to play games because it keeps you happy and healthy, and for the same reason the Native Americans played. The games the children would play are: Lacrosse, ball games, running races, wrestling, snow snake, leap frog, follow the leader, darts and spin the top.

How to play Lacrosse
Lacrosse is played when 6-8 players or sometimes even more are on a team. Then they would lineup in two lines facing each other. Each player had a bat. Then the ball was dropped between the two lines, and each team fought for possession. If you got the ball, you would run with it until you were blocked, then you would hurl it to another team player. If you carried the ball through your own team’s gate a set number of times then your team would win.

How to play Snow snake
Snow snake is played when it’s icy in the winter. There are two teams in Snow snake. Each team would have a long stick that was curved at each end. Then they would throw the stick, and whichever team threw the stick farther the most, their team would win.

How to play darts
You play darts by holding the pin in one hand, and swinging it forward and up. Then you would try to catch it.

How to play the dice game
Throwing the dice on the ground, causing the dice to fly in the air, plays the dice game. I know not all the games sound fun, but that’s still what they played!

How did they make the toys?

Chapter 3

What would they use to make toys?
The Native Americans did not have all the fancy materials we have now days, but the toys still had to be made. If you’re wondering: Then how did they make toys? Then this is the place for you!

How to make lacrosse sticks
In order to make lacrosse sticks, you would bend a piece of wood, and tie on string made out of strips of deer hide, and you have a lacrosse stick!

How to make a dice
To make a dice you would slice a bone into little circles, and you’re done!

How to make cornhusk dolls
To make cornhusk dolls you would dry the outside of corn, and when it would be dry, you would make the cornhusk into a doll!

How to make the lacrosse ball
To make the lacrosse ball, you would stuff deer hide, and tie it together to make a ball!

I hope you enjoyed going on this adventure with me, and learning how the northeast Native Americans played! Come back soon!
