Mandy mandy.jpg

By Julie Andrews Edwards

Mandy is a great book by Julie Andrews Edwards. Now, you might have heard her name before. Perhaps in the theaters, or on Broadway? Edwards, besides being the star of the stage, is also an excellent children’s book author.

Mandy is a book about an orphan named Mandy. Mandy’s real name is Amanda. Mandy very much wants her own “place.” When she finds an old cottage, Mandy wants to make it her own. She wants it so much that Mandy even takes things from the orphanage. Mandy is a book for people who like books that have adventure, curiosity, and a touch of mystery all collided into one single book. I really recommend Mandy to anyone who thinks that they can open a book and dive into anything that they encounter.

by Louis Sacher

Wayside School is a great book. I would recommend this book for people who love to laugh. This book is about a thirty-story building with lots of kids! So many crazy things happen at that school, for example there’s a teacher named miss Zarves she teaches the class on the 19th floor. But there is no 19th floor in the building. There is more than 1 book in this hilarious series: Wayside School Gets A Little Stranger, Sideways Stories From Wayside School, Wayside School Is Falling Down. The one I’m talking about is Wayside School Gets A Little Stranger. My favorite chapter is Pet Day; in pet day all the kids in the class bring in their pets. This chapter is funny. In this chapter all the kids bring their pets, but some kids bring in their sibling or their friends or family. I really learned about the characters. My favorite character is a teacher named Mrs. Jewels. She is my favorite character because she’s always nice and sensitive to the kids. You should also read this great, funny, exciting book to find out more about Mrs. Jewels and all the other crazy characters!!

SP Recommends Diary of a Wimpy Kid

wimpy-kid.JPGDiary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

I recommend this book because it is a funny book. Sometimes when Greg, the main character, does something bad and the bullies come, he says “He did it!” and points to someone else and the bullies beat the other person up.

Greg’s best friend Rowley is funny too. When Rowley got a motorcycle for Christmas, Rowley gives Greg a Big Wheel. Greg thinks that he didn’t get any good presents for Christmas and says sarcastically, “Thanks!”

I think it is a good book for kids in our grade because it is about a kid who tries to be popular and all the problems he has because everyone in his family acts like he is a baby.

If I had to rate this book on a scale of 1-10, I would give it an 8. For me, that is a good rating.

erasmus-twiddle.jpgThe Adventures of Erasmus Twiddle

by Eric Laster

Erasmus Twiddle is a funny book about a Detective (not detective, as he calls himself) who solves strange mysteries. One of the chapters is called The Case of the Rubber Chicken. It’s about a person who “loses” his rubber chicken. One of Erasmus’s friends calls himself Bagby Butterbottom. The author is Eric Laster. Erasmus lives in Grmkville. It is a great book and I highly recommend it.

into-the-wild.jpgWarriors Book 1: Into the Wild

By Erin Hunter

The first book I would recommend to you is Warriors Book 1: Into the Wild. It is about a housecat named Rusty and his adventures in the forest. All it takes is one hop, and hop off his garden fence into the wild forest, to change his life. Follow Rusty as he ventures into the forest and goes through different names. Erin Hunter is an excellent author and she makes her books so you feel like you can’t stop them.

The Lightening Thief the-lightening-thief.jpg

By Rick Riordan

I’ve read a book called The Lightening Thief. The Lightening Thief is a book that puts creatures from Greek myths into our world. The book is about a boy named Percy who doesn’t know anything about the Greek mythological world at the beginning of the book. Then, Percy finds out that he is half human, half god (a demigod). Percy goes to a camp called Camp Half-Blood, where he is safe. What Percy doesn’t know, for a while, is that he is in great danger. At Camp Half-Blood Percy meets a girl, Annabeth, that he is great friends with. He, Annabeth and Grover go on a quest. If this book sounds interesting to you then, read it. If you have already read this book, then if I missed anything don’t be mad. The Lightening Thief is the first of three books (that have been published) in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. The other two books are, #2 The Sea of Monsters and #3 The Titan’s Curse. This series is by Bick Riordan. I really enjoyed this series. Also the title names are really funny. A funny chapter name is “I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom.” You should read this book!!!

huey-tells.JPGMore Stories Huey Tells

by Ann Cameron

A boy named Huey has a place in his backyard to grow plants. The plants he grew were sunflowers. Huey, Julian and Gloria all made plants but they were not the same plants. Huey thought his plants were the best in the garden. They were in the back so they wouldn’t shade the other plants because they looked like giants. During the summer they played in their garden and Huey’s sunflowers had enormous yellow flowers with dark centers. Julian was bringing roses from his bush for his mom to put in a vase. The plants got taller and taller until they were humongous. Huey was proud of his plants. Eventually Julian and Gloria didn’t think they were nice anymore. Huey saw that his plants were droopy. He thought that they were sick. They weren’t sick though but they gave them a lot of items and got in trouble for it. They were dying so he took the seeds out of the flowers and stored them for next year.

winn-dixie.JPGBecause of Winn-Dixie

By Kate DiCamillo

Because of Winn-Dixie is a fun book to read for anyone. One reason I like it is because a girl cares so much about a stray dog to get in trouble with a manager of a store and adopt the dog. That’s how much she cares for dogs. One reason you should read it is because it teaches you a lesson. The lesson is even if people are different you should not call them names or not be nice to them. In the beginning Winn-Dixie did something funny in a grocery store which will make you laugh. At the end I thought this is one of the best books ever.

Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban harry-potter-3.jpg

By J.K. Rowling

I would recommend the third Harry Potter book. I loved this book because it is really interesting and I just couldn’t stop reading. It’s a book about Harry Potter in danger of Sirius Black. Meanwhile at The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ron Weasly’s twin older brothers give him a map. I don’t want to mention any more because I might give away something, but it’s a really great book. Remember it’s: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

By Holling Clancy Holling

Paddle-to-the-Sea, by Holling Clancy Holling, is an excellent book. It is about a little wooden canoe with an Indian in it. He starts around Lake Nipigon and ends up in the Atlantic. On the way he escapes a forest fire, a sawmill, goes over Niagara Falls, witnesses a shipwreck and still gets there in one piece. Paddle-to-the-Sea is also a Caldecott Honor book. Bon Voyage Paddle!
