4th Grade Buddy Blogs

Filed under: Edinger House 2007-08, House 2007-08 — Fedonchik at 3:54 pm on Friday, February 22, 2008

4th-grade-buddies.jpgOn February 13, House 43 welcomed Edinger House back to the “old country,” Little Dalton. We welcomed Edinger House with a breakfast party and then with visits to “old country” teachers. House 43 members escorted Edinger House buddies to the First Program New Lab for a lesson in blogging from Ms. Edinger, whose House has been writing individual blogs since January.

Prior to this meeting, House 43 children drafted, revised and edited paragraphs on their growing relationship with their New Orleans buddies (NOLA) at the Lusher School. Together 3rd grade and 4th grade children worked to bring the 3rd grade children’s words to digital life by posting the paragraphs to the individual 4th grade blogs. You can view these blogs by visiting Edinger House blog and then by clicking on Student Blogs. We celebrate the hard work from both 3rd grade and 4th grade students. Bravo!

New Orleans/Lusher School Buddy Update

Filed under: House 2007-08, NOLA 2007-08 — Fedonchik at 12:20 pm on Friday, February 22, 2008

kids-laying-outline.jpgLast month, our friends at the Lusher School embarked on an exciting construction and gardening project. As part of their commitment to restore wetlands environments in the New Orleans area, the Lusher School planned and built a seedling nursery. Please view the pictures of this impressive event on the 3rd Grade Website as well as on this blog at “Lusher School Nursery Building.” Also, please check out the links here under “NOLA Buddies.”

The Lusher School 3rd grade classroom and a 5th grade science class worked together with teachers and staff from a restoration program to build a nursery, equipped with irrigation pipes and a protective cage. The Lusher School plans to grow marsh grasses (like California Bulrush) in coordination with Bayou Rebirth project, and a cornerstone of Louisiana wetlands, the Southern Baldcypress Tree, in coordination with the Coastal Roots project.
