Native American clothing of the plains and prairies

Introduction
In these paragraphs, you will see how plains and prairies Indians made clothing and what they wore. I am studying Native Americans before European contact. Some of the tribes that lived there are Black foot, Crow, and Sioux. The Bison was a main animal for the plains and prairies Indians. The climate there is cold in the winter and hot in the summer.  In the winter it may be hard to find food and plant the crops and keep warm.  In the summer it may be easy to find food and plant the crops and keep warm.

This is how the Native Americans made clothing. Men women and children skin the dead Buffalo where they have fallen. A big animal weighs a ton so it takes several men to move it into the right position. Then the skin is cut away with knives made of bone or sharp stones such as flint. Back at the camp the mother stretches out the hides hair side down and stakes it with wooden pegs. Then she uses a tooth-edged tool made from bone or horn to scrape away all the blood, fat, muscle, and connective tissue. They used bison, elk, and deerskin. They designed their clothing using geometric shapes like straight line, circles or triangles. So this is how they made clothing if you want to see what they wore well you will find out.

This is about what clothing the Native Americans wore and when they wore it. Men wore headdresses only at special times a every day would be deerskin shirts and leggings. In warm weather and when they were hunting or fighting they would wear a strip of leather called breechcloth and a pair of moccasins would be just fine. A woman’s or girls every day would be a dress and leggings. They saved the decorated dresses for special times. They wore Bison robes to keep warm. They painted their bodies and faces before going to war. They used porcupine quills, paint, or feathers. This is what Native Americans wore. Sorry, no more clothing BUT a lot of other stuff!!

I found all of this study very interesting! I found some parts tough like getting books on clothing and picking a book.  Now the question is did you find the paragraphs about clothing interesting? If you did then you will love my cowhide artifact.
