Dalton Highlights

7 10 2009

This year so far in BIG D is the best. I kind of miss Little D. Little D is where I went to kindergarden through third grade. We have music and we are learning how to play the clarinet. The clarinet is so much fun. It has a unique sound. We just learned how to put the clarinet together. This year we have desks. Last year we had to work at tables and keep all of our supplies in a cubby.  Desks are better because you can keep your supplies close to you. Art is so much fun.  We are studying Kurt Schwitters and we are making collages. I am using the coolest materials for my collage. We all put a hand in the garbage and made our collage out of what we pulled out and then washed our hands.

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!!

Highlights from the First Week of School

7 10 2009

Fourth grade is the best!!! One of my favorite highlights from the first week of school is play street, which is recess except on the street. We play football, box ball, jump rope, wall ball, soccer and much more. One of the other highlights of the week is having P.E. every day of the week. In P.E. we play a lot of sports. I also like music because this is the first year we are playing percussion and woodwind instruments. I love fourth grade!!!

Highlights of Big Dalton

7 10 2009

My favorite highlight of Big Dalton is that this year we get P.E. every day. I like P.E. because you get to run around and be active. P.E. is different because in most classes you just sit down and do work. That is why I like P.E..My next favorite highlight is that we get netbooks (small computers). It is good to have your own computer because you have your own files and you don’t have to share files. Last but not least, I love Playstreet. It is better than roof at Little Dalton because balls don’t go over the roof. It is not as good as roof because every time a car comes we have to stop.  Luckily cars barely ever come. So far Big Dalton is great.

Big Dalton Highlights

7 10 2009

What I like about Big Dalton is that if we get to school on time, unlike at Little Dalton, we get to use the elevators. In Little Dalton we only get to use the elevator if you have an injury. I also like that we get our own Netbooks. They’re like mini computers and we have Tux Typing on them instead of Type to Learn. In Big Dalton we get a totally different teacher for math class. In Music we are learning how to play the violin.  We play with our hands before we learn to use the bow. In the the next semester we are going to play the clarinet. I am enjoying our study of E.B. White. We have written author blurbs about our classmates. In P.E. we’re playing fun games in Project Adventure and playing soccer. We have Playstreet instead of Upper Roof at Big Dalton. At Playstreet we play football, wall ball, box ball and catch. When a car wants to un-park itself the teacher yells, “Sidewalk!” and we all run to the sidewalk and crouch. Big Dalton rocks!

School Days

6 10 2009

So far in school we have done some amazing things!!! For example, on playstreet they close down the street and then no cars can come through. Then we play with ballls, jumpropes, and footballs on the sidewalk and on the street. Then when a car is coming they yell, “sidewalk” and we go to the sidewalk. Then when the car is through the teachers yell, “play street.” In music we play clarinet and it is very fun. When we become better we can take the clarinet home. We are so excited!!!! In art we have been be doing a lot of very fun color collages and I love art. We will sew and paint and that will also be so fun. I love 4th grade!!!!

School Highlights

6 10 2009

One of my favorite school highlights is play street. We have play street everyday. In play street you can play wallball, football, street soccer, jump rope, draw with chalk or just chill out! The golden rule in play street is YOU CAN’T SAY YOU CAN’T PLAY! Play street is a highlight in my mind because you can see all the friends you don’t see during class time. If you did not hand in your homeowrk you have to miss out on playstreet. Another one of my favorite highlights is the net books or mini computers. I typed this blog on one! These computers are smaller than an average size note book and they’re all completely white. My first week in first grade was awesome!

Fourth Grade is Awesome

5 10 2009

The first few days of school were great! We learned so much.I enjoyed interviewing a classmate and writing an author blurb for them. I can’t wait to interview my immigrant subject for our Oral History Project.  In science we are learning about rocks and minerals. In art we are studying and copying the collages and ideas of Kurt Schwitters. In music we are studying brass (the trombone, tuba and french horn) and percussion (the drums). These are only some of the awesome subjects we have. I can’t wait for the rest of the year!!!!!!!!

The First Few Weeks of Fourth Grade

5 10 2009

The first few weeks have been very different from Little Dalton. There are more people, more stairs, and a bigger building. All this can feel intimidating but I think I’ll make it. Playstreet is my favorite activity because I talk with my friends and jump rope. Its a blast! Lunch has a lot more variety of foods to choose from. One of my favorite subjects is Art because it makes me feel creative, as if I could make anything. We have been making colorful collages. Mine has a theme of silver and gold. The other subject that I really like is music, because I get listen to a lot of instruments such as french horns, trumpets, tubas, and drums. I’m having a great first few weeks!

Highlights Of 4th Grade

5 10 2009

So far in 4th grade my three favorite subjects are music, playstreet, and math. I like math because it is fun when I challenge myself to go really fast during a mad minute math fact practice. It was always my favorite subject but now it is tied with playstreet and music.  I like playstreet because  we shutdown the whole street and we play get to play games like football, box ball and jump roping. I like music because my teacher is funny and has lots of energy. I’m also good at music. I play the piano so I can read music well. 4th grade is the best year ever!

My Highlights of the First Week of Fourth Grade

5 10 2009

This is my first year at this school and I really love it!  We have P.E. every day. Soccer is my favorite sport and I’m happy it’s part of the school’s physical education curriculum. I also like my school because we have Play Street. We get to play different games like football and soccer. Other kids play jump rope, box ball and wall ball. I think lunch in school is pretty good because there’s a lot of variety and it tastes good! I’m really excited for next year because then I get to have lunch in the cafeteria. I love that my school is half a block away. I think my school is great!!!!
