Assignment 1- Journals passed out on Tuesday 11/10
Due: Thursday 11/19

Here is some general information about homework in fourth grade.

Time: Fourth graders should expect to spend approximately 1 1/2 hours per night on homework. While no homework is assigned on Friday to be handed in on Monday, students may choose to work on extended projects on the weekends.   For example, you may be given a Spelling assignment on Friday due a week later that you might want to complete over the weekend.

Teacher: You are encouraged to ask your teachers for clarification of directions and procedures about homework in class and lab. If you are struggling unduly with an assignment at home, you should not continue with it, but bring it to the teacher the next day for further explanation.

Homework Binder: You are expected to have a binder for homework and all necessary materials so it gets home and back to school intact.

Absences: When you are sick, first let the MS Office know.  You should then check your math teacher’s blog for the nightly homework (it will be there for you to download) and be sure to do your nightly reading.  If you were in school for your weekly Spelling and Writing Skills lessons, you will know the homework for those.  If you do miss one of them, be sure to check in with those teachers as soon as you are back in school.

Planbook: This is an important part of Dalton life.  You will be given a special one that we get just for fourth graders.  You will be expected to write in it homework assignments given in school as well as note nightly reading. The planbook is the first place you and your supervising adults) should go to to check on assignments.
