Blog

You can always finish up the assigned blog posts at home!  Make tabs so you have the assignment (my blog post on the main page of this blog) and whatever FAQ info you need at hand. And you are now welcome to do optional review posts anytime.

Reading

At least 30 minutes nightly. (You may, OF COURSE, read more!!) When beginning a book write the title in your plan book (see below). Then you must only write pages read every night. Remember to bring the book you are reading at home to school every day. You may have time to read it there too.

General Information

Students in fourth grade should expect to spend approximately 1 1/2 hours per night on homework. While no homework is assigned on Friday to be handed in on Monday, students may choose to work on extended projects on the weekends.

Planbook: Students have been given planbooks which they are expected to maintain. This means students should write down all homework assignments given in school as well as note nightly reading. The planbook is the first place students (and supervising adults) should check what the homework is.

Teacher: Students are encouraged to ask for clarification of directions and procedures about homework in class and lab. If they are struggling unduly with an assignment at home, they should not continue with it, but bring it to the teacher the next day for further explanation.

Homework Binder: Students are expected to have a binder to see that homework and all necessary materials get home and back to school intact.

Absences: When a child is sick, the house advisor should be notified and then she will arrange for any homework to be left at the Middle School office for pickup.
