Rules for Class 4 License
- You may only e-mail teachers (ask their permission first)
- No bad language
- Don’t say anything over e-mail that you wouldn’t say in person
- Don’t write anything you wouldn’t say to a large group
- You may only e-mail teachers if those teachers have given you permission or have e-mailed you first
- No sharing passwords
- For Class 4, your accounts will be 30 minutes per day
- Your e-mail mailboxes will be accessible to your teachers (personal not private)
- Your password must be of the form “noun” plus “number” and is to be shared only with your parents and teacher. Examples might be: sneakers45, guitar246 or books617.
How do I login to my email account from home?
- Go to the Dalton web site and click on the Login button in the lower left corner.
- Click on the link to Forum Email in the right column (under Links).
- Login into your account over the web by clicking on Direct Login. When you login this way, your account looks different than it does on the computers at school.
- Or, for the same look as at school and for a faster connection, install the FirstClass software on your home computer (directions are provided on that page).
How do I record my voice using my Forum email account?
- Login to your account and create a new message
- From the Edit menu, select Insert and then Insert Voice
- To start recording press the red round button
- Speak clearly into the computer’s microphone
- To stop recording press the red pause button
- To listen to the recording, press the the black play button
- If it sounds okay, save the recording to the email message by pressing the red square button. The audio file will show as an attachment on the email message. (If the recording does not sound okay, then re-record using Steps 3-6).
- Drag the file onto your computer’s desktop and then into your student account
- Upload the audio file to your blog post
