Once I get my own blog how do I change my blog password?
- On a Mac computer, make sure you are in Finder, and select Connect to Server from the Go menu
- For Server Address, type students.dalton.org and then click Connect
- Next to Name, enter your username
- Then, click on the cog wheel and select Change Password…
- Enter your old password once and your new password twice. Then, click on OK. (You may have to wait a minute for the window to close.)
- Then, click on Cancel on the “Connect to Server” window.
Your password has been changed.
What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, ask your teacher or someone from The New Lab (like Craig or Ms. Nickles) for help.
- Open Firefox.
- Go to blogs.dalton.org/edinger and select your username from the list in Student Blogs. Or, go straight there: blogs.dalton.org/yourusername
- When you get to your blog click on Login.
- On the next screen enter your username and password.
- Login to your blog.
- Click on Posts at the left of the page and then Add New
- Give your post a Title.
- Write your post.
- Do “Postit Proofreading” (just like you did in your journals!). That is, do a spelling check and the check for sense, punctuation, spelling (again!), and capitalization.
- When you are finished, click on Publish.
- To see your post click on View Post or Visit Site at the top of the page.
- When you are finished click on Logout at the top of the page.
How do I edit a post on my blog?
- Login to your blog.
- If you are on your blog’s homepage, click on Site Admin.
- If you are not on your blog’s homepage, click on the Posts tab.
- Roll your mouse over the post and click on Edit.
- Make changes to your post and click on Update Post.
- To see your post click on View Post or View Site at the top of the page.
- When you are finished click on Logout at the top of the page.
How do I comment on a blog post?
- Navigate to the blog.
- Click on Login and enter your username and password.
- For the post on which you would like to comment, click on the Comments link directly under it.
- Scroll down to write your comment in the field. Here are some tips for writing great comments.
- When you are finished, click on Submit Comment.
- Finally, click on Logout.
How do I scan an image for my blog?
- On a Mac, launch the program Image Capture.
- Open the scanner and place your image face down.
- In Image Capture, click on the Overview button.
- Use your mouse to select the portion you want to scan.
- Set the Resolution to 72.
- Set the save location to Desktop.
- Name your file with your initials or username.
- Click on the Scan button.
- Login to FirstClass, open the Edinger House workspace, and save your file from the Desktop into the correct folder.
How do I save a scanned image onto my eeePC?
- On your eeePC, login to FirstClass and find your scanned image in the Edinger House workspace
- Double-click to open the image and click Save As…
- Go to: Home/User
- Go to: My Documents
- Go to: My Office
- Click Save
How do I upload an image to a post?
- Login to your blog and navigate to your post.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Click your mouse into the place you wish your image to appear.
- Click on the Add Media button.
- Click on Select Files.
- Go into: My Documents
- Go into: My Office
- Select the image and click OK.
- Scroll down and click on the Insert into post button.
- Resize the image.
- Press Return to move your cursor to the next line to add a caption.
- When you are finished uploading your image(s), click to Save your post.
- TIP: Don’t use your backspace button to move your mouse cursor around your post or you might delete your image.
What information do I provide to comment on another student’s blog?
You may be asked to answer the following questions before you are allowed to make a comment on another student’s blog:
Your Name: use your username
Your Email: use edingerhouse@dalton.org
Your Blog URL or Homepage: your blog address (blogs.dalton.org/username)
Comment: your comments, of course
How do I link to another web site from a blog post?
- Login to your blog.
- In your post, select the word or words to link.
- Click on the Insert/Edit Link button:

- In the window that opens, fill out the Link URL with the web site to which you are linking (copying and pasting this address is easier than typing it).
- Click on the Insert button.
- Login to your blog and navigate to your post.
- Find the Categories box in the sidebar
- Select the category you want and save your post, OR
- To create a new category, click the Add New Category button, add your new category, and finally, save your post.
How do I record an audio file (podcast) in Garageband?
- On a Mac, open GarageBand
- Click Create New Podcast Episode
- Provide a file title, set the save location to Desktop, and click Create
- Select either Male or Female Voice track
- Click on the Track Info Button (”i”) and raise the Recording Level to 85%
- To start recording click the round red record button
- To stop recording click the round red record button
- Rewind and click play to review your recording
- To re-record, first delete your old recording (click on the track and press delete)
- When you are finished, go to the Share menu and select Export Song to Disk
- VERY IMPORTANT: Next to Compress Using, choose MP3 Encoder and click Export (your file should save onto the Desktop)

- Login to your blog and navigate to your post (or start a new one)
- VERY IMPORTANT: Click your mouse into the place you wish your image to appear.
- Click on the Add Media button.
- Click on Select Files
- Click on Desktop, select your audio file, and click Select
- Click on Upload
- After the audio file has uploaded, click Insert into Post
- Save or Publish when your post is ready
