Once I get my own blog how do I change my blog password?
- On a Mac computer, make sure you are in Finder, and select Connect to Server from the Go menu
- For Server Address, type students.dalton.org and then click Connect
- Next to Name, enter your username
- Then, click on the cog wheel and select Change Password…
- Enter your old password once and your new password twice. Then, click on OK. (You may have to wait a minute for the window to close.)
- Then, click on Cancel on the “Connect to Server” window.
Your password has been changed.
What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, ask your teacher or someone from The New Lab (like Craig or Ms. Nickles) for help.
- Open Firefox.
- Go to blogs.dalton.org/edinger and select your username from the list in Student Blogs. Or, go straight there: blogs.dalton.org/yourusername
- When you get to your blog click on Login.
- On the next screen enter your username and password.
- Login to your blog.
- Click on the Write at the top of the page.
- Give your post a Title.
- Write your post.
- Do “Postit Proofreading” (just like you did in your journals!). That is, do a spelling check and the check for sense, punctuation, spelling (again!), and capitalization.
- When you are finished, click on Publish.
- To see your post click on View site at the top of the page.
- When you are finished click on Logout on your blog homepage.
How do I edit a post on my blog?
- Login to your blog.
- If you are on your blog’s homepage, click on Site Admin.
- If you are not on your blog’s homepage, click on the Manage tab.
- Next to your post click on Edit.
- Make changes to your post and click on Save.
- To see your post click on View site at the top of the page.
- When you are finished click on Logout on your blog homepage.
How do I comment on a Dalton classmate’s blog post?
- Find a classmate’s blog.
- Click on Login and enter your username and password.
- Click on View site at the top of the page to read your peer’s posts.
- For the post on which you would like to comment, click on the Comments link directly under it.
- Scroll down to write your comment in the field. When you are finished, click on Submit Comment.
- When you are finished, click on Logout.
How do I scan an image for my blog?
- Launch the program Image Capture.
- Open the scanner and place your image face down.
- In Image Capture, click on the Overview button.
- Use your mouse to select the portion you want to scan.
- Set the Resolution to 72.
- Set the save location to Desktop.
- Name your file with your initials or username.
- Click on the Scan button.
- Open your Student Account, and save your file from the Desktop into your Student Account.
How do I upload an image to a post?
- Login to your blog and navigate to your post.
- In your post, scroll down to the Upload section and click on the Upload tab.
- Click on the Browse button next to File.
- Locate and select your image file (from the Desktop or from your Student Account) and then, click on Open.
- Click on the Upload button.
- After the image uploads, click on Edit next to the image’s filename.
- Highlight the image’s URL address with your mouse and copy it for later (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen select Copy).
- Then, scroll up to your post’s text and click your mouse in the place you wish your image to appear.
- Click on the Insert/Edit Image button (look for the tree). A new window will pop up.
- Next to Image URL paste the address you copied earlier (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen select Paste).
- Then, click on Insert.
- Press Return to move your cursor to the next line to add a caption.
- When you are finished uploading your image(s), click on Save.
What information do I provide to comment on another student’s blog?
You may be asked to answer the following questions before you are allowed to make a comment on another student’s blog:
Your Name: use your username
Your Email: use edingerhouse@dalton.org
Your Blog URL or Homepage: your blog address (blogs.dalton.org/username)
Comment: your comments, of course
How do I link to another web site in a blog post?
- Login to your blog.
- In your post, select the word or words to link.
- Click on the Insert/Edit Link button:

- In the window that opens, fill out the Link URL with the web site to which you are linking (copying and pasting this address is easier than typing it).
- Click on the Insert button.
- Login to your blog and navigate to your post.
- Expand the Categories box in the sidebar
- Select the category you want and save your post, OR
- Type a new category, click the Add button, and then save your post
How do I upload an audio file (podcast) to a post?
- Login to your blog and navigate to your post (or start a new one)
- In your post, scroll down to the Upload section and click on the Upload tab.
- Click on the Browse button next to File.
- Locate and select your audio file (from the Desktop or from your Student Account) and then, click on Open.
- Click on the Upload button.
- After the audio file uploads, click on Edit next to the audio file’s name.
- Highlight the audio file’s URL address with your mouse and copy it for later (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen select Copy).
- Then, scroll up to Podcasting section and click on Add Media File.
- In the Location field, paste the audio file’s URL address (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen select Paste).
- Write a Title for your podcast
- Scroll up and write an introduction for your podcast
- Save your post or Publish if it is ready
