Bon voyage to Blogical Minds!

Ms. Edinger and I have been looking for other student blogs for you to visit, and we found Blogical Minds from a fifth grade class in Georgia, USA.

1. Visit one of the of the student blogs at Blogical Minds.
2. While you are there, take notes about it in a MS word document. Can you answer these questions?

  • About what are they writing?
  • What kinds of things are you learning from their posts?
  • What are some examples of good writing and why?
  • In what ways is this student using their blog? Are these ways similar or different to how you use your blog right now?

Here are the notes we took this morning:

a post about current events, news
she asks a question at the end of the post
she added a picture

I learned that there are different ways to blog – you can learn from your mistakes on a blog
I learned a helpful safety tip from the animated “Awesome Owl”

a post to persuade people in the community not to cut down the trees to save the environment

3. Comment on a student’s blog post–see the post below for helpful ways to start a comment. You may get an idea from your notes, too.
4. Now return to this blog post and comment here so we can share what we learned. Use your notes and report on the most important thing you learned about blogging today. Remember to link to the blog that you visited.
(You may also post your comment on your blog.)

On Tour

Some of us have been visiting other class blogs and reporting on these visits on our blogs. Hopefully more will soon! (And by the way, you need to do more than link to someone else’s blog — you need to report on your visit. That is, write about it as these students did. Just saying where you went and giving us a link is not enough. A hint to some of you.)
c15os visited Mr.Brune’s class near us in New York State

c15am has been all over the world!

c15hu has been to New Zealand already.
