On Tuesday after school the Dalton School will be celebrating Ashley Bryan. A former teacher at Dalton, Ashley is a remarkable artist, writer, performer, and person. Our party tomorrow is to celebrate the publication of Ashley’s autobiography, Words to My Life Song. And to honor him, at today’s Literary Salon, Edinger House did a reading of one of his most beautiful books, Beautiful Blackbird.

So give a listen!

Today for Literary Salon we did a class reading of Eve Bunting’s picture book, How Many Days to America? We had hoped to do this with our third grade buddies, but we weren’t able to coordinate our schedules. So instead we did a podcast for them. We hope they listen to it and them perhaps will do one for us! Then we can listen to theirs while looking at the whole book. It is a perfect book to read right before Thanksgiving, especially when studying immigration. Here is our podcast:

Today you are going to learn how to upload audio file to your post.
The first thing to do is to give your audience some information about what they will be hearing. In this case you should write a good paragraph explaining why we did this (hint — your teacher chose the book for a very special reason:), your particular monologue and why you chose it, how dressed for it (if you did), and so on. And be sure to give the title of the book and the author. You might also want to put an image of the book cover on your post. (I’m not going to go over how to do that — there is a place for you to get that information if you need it. Hint: the first letter is “F”.) Here’s a link to the amazon.com page about the book to help you.
The second thing to do is to upload the file. Go to the end of the Blogs FAQ where you will find directions answering the question, “ How do I upload an audio file (podcast) to a post?”
Here’s the podcast for yesterday’s Literary Salon:
