1. Based on class discussion of The Outsiders, draw a picture (using color) of character pair and incorporate a quotation from the text for each character.
Assignment II Due Tuesday 9/22
1.Define the word Epiphany.
2.Carefully review chapter six, think about epiphanies Ponyboy has regarding the characters of Dallas Winston and Darry Curtis. Copy down the best quotes (from chapter six only) that show how Ponyboy might be changing his opinion of each of these characters. Next to the quote explain Ponyboy’s epiphany.

1.Memorize Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay”
2. Explain meaning of poem (type and print out) in your own words.
Assignment IV Due Thursday 10/1
I. Write a response to Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay” in which you focus on 1) tone and 2) use of paradox ( seeming contradiction that is nonetheless true–we discussed in class e.g.: A person born in a leap year had two ages). If you are not clear on what a paradox is, look for any contradictions and discuss those.

1) Even though Johnny appears to be the weakest member of the Greaser gang, he is actually the bravest because….(list your three reasons as discussed in class–one for weak and two for brave).
2) Although Dally appears to be the strongest memeber of the Greaser gang, he is actually the most vulnerable because (list your three reasons as discussed in class–one for strong and two for vulnerable).
