Things That Make This Book So Great

Warning: This post may give away some of the book to readers who haven’t read the book When You Reach Me.

When You Reach Me is a wonderful book that is full of mysteries and friendship. The book is kind of like a big puzzle and throughout it the pieces come together. When you finish the book it leaves your mouth hanging open because you have finally put the puzzle together, you have lifted up a side of your veil. (Read the book to find out what this means!)

This book takes place in 1979 and is about a twelve year old girl named Miranda. Miranda lives with her mother in an apartment in New York City. She has a best friend named Sal. One day Sal get punched in the stomach by a kid named Marcus. Around the same time Miranda starts getting letters from a mysterious person. One letter says, “I am coming to save your friend’s life and mine.”  Another tells Miranda to write him or her a letter and that she will know where to find this strange person. Just before her mother goes on  the game show $20,000 Pyramid (for which she has been practicing since the beginning of the book), something upsetting happens and soon the whole puzzle comes together.

The only way to really understand what is going on and is to read the book yourself.  You will then get the excitement full force.
