Virginia Article
My state was Virginia, I had to do research on Virginia. Here is what I came up with. Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in North America, Jamestown was in what we now call Virginia. Jamestown was founded on May 13 1607. After it became a State in 1788 the Capitol changed three times, From Jamestown to Williamsburg and finally Richmond. The State Flower is Dogwood. The State beverage is Milk. Some of the major mountain ranges are the Allegheny, Appalachian, Blue Ridge and Shenandoah. In !995, the estimated population was 6,618,000. The area of Virginia is 40,81 square miles. 8 past presidents were born in Virginia including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Woodrow Wilson.
Virginia has a great history. One of the main historic things was the Civil War. Since the Civil War was a massive war I am just going to focus on The Battle of Williamsburg. The main part of The Battle of Williamsburg took place on May 5 1862. The other name was Fort Magruder. The Union had 40,768 troops, and the confedarets had 31,823 troops. The Confederates did not intend on defeating the union. They just wanted to stall them. The first attack was abandon because it was at night and they could not see. In the morning the battle started. There were countless volleys of bullets going across the field. Finally James longstreet (the Confederate general) decided that they could not hold the enemy for much longer. So Longstreet got every soldier he could and made a bayonet charge. Before the charge got three quarters across the field they were all killed. The battle of Williamsburg is one of the most famous battles ever.
George Washington was born in Westmoreland County Virginia. His family were landowners and that means that they had money. When he was 22 he fought in skirmishes that started the French and Indian War. After, he served in the House of Burgesses, the Virginian Government. In 1775, when he was 43 years old, he served in the Continental Congress as a Representative from Virginia. Later that same year, he became the General of the Continental Army. After he won the Revolution, the country elected him the first President of the United States.
That’s a little taste of the history of Virginia. Hopefully sometime you can go and see the things in Virginia. If you live in Virginia, that’s great for you.

You’ve done an excellent job! I love how you focused on really specific historical details about Virginia. Please be careful about capitalizing proper nouns, and you left a few of them in lowercase. Also, where is your fact sheet?
