Illinois had a lot of interesting facts. First I would like to write about Sue the dinosaur. She is kept in the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Sue is the biggest dinosaur known to mankind, but she is just bones now. However, she has a complete skeleton. If you ever visit her remember to look at her bird like feet, her huge legs, and her terrifying teeth. Sue is 42 foot long from head to tail and has a five foot long scull. This T Rex was found in 1990 by Sue Hendrickson.

Another Illinois fact is that the ice cream sundae was originate in Evanston, Illinois. The ice cream soda is the first cousin to the ice cream sundae. Having an ice cream soda after church was always a town favorite for Evanston. The children would get their ice cream sodas at the soda fountains in the drug stores. All of the adults in the town thought it was not right to be having ice cream sodas on the Sabbath. A law was passed that there would be no selling of ice cream sodas on Sunday in Evanston. For the drug stores to get away from this law, they sold the ice cream sodas with out the soda. The substitute was just ice cream with syrup on it. The people of Evanston called it a Sunday after the day on which it was sold. The religious leaders didn’t want to name the tasty treat after the Sabbath day, so they spelled it “Sundae”.

It is confusing yet amazing. It is about a normal girl with alot of mysterious changes happening with her friends, where she works, and much more. It doesn’t quite have happy ending, but worked the way the laughing man planed out. (you will find out what that means if you read the book) My teacher was the one who read us (my class) the book. Now that she read it to us I realize two things: 1 It is helpful to read A Wrinkle in Time first. 2 It is easier to read it with a friend or a group. Although it is complicated it is a great book for kids.

My class and I read a book called The Green Book for writing skills. We have to write about the story of the Green Book versus what the pilgrims did. The Green Book is about people in the future going to any other planet on a beat up space ship. They were very poor. They were leaving because something bad was going to happen to the earth. The pilgrims were a lot like the people in the green book. They both traveled to a different place and were able to live there, they both could bring limited belongings, and they both had a very small vehicle they were riding in to get to their destination. This list could go on and on. Luckily there are also differences. They don’t have the same reason for leaving, they both take places in different times, and one of them had a toilet on their ship and one didn’t. Find out yourselves what the rest are by reading the amazing book The Green Book.

Alice in wonderland is a great book but is getting lost in our generation. I had no idea what the book was. Luckily my class is studying it. First we all got the A.I.W. book from my teacher. We each read it to our self wall Ms. Edinger ( my teacher ) read the annotated version. She told us a lot of things she knew about the book. Like some the original poems Lewis Carrol the writer, makes into parody’s. Also, Lewis Carrol is not the authors real name. His real name is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. He used a fake name because he was really a math teacher. He did not want people thinking he was a writers or a story teller. Next what our class did was looking at comics so we knew how to write them. Now we are making the script and drawing our comics. Don’t worry when I’m done I’ll show it to you to I promise.

I, c17sh am learning about the pilgrims in school. My teacher found a great book for us to look at. It has quotes from the pilgrims journals and some of there poetry. It is great for a class of fourth graders because it is still in there bad grammar, but it is changed enough to read. After reading a few pages, we got picked a phrase/sentence from the book. Mine is ” compassed about to the very Sea with Okes, Pine Iuniper, Sassafras, and other sweet wood; ” . It is a great way to learn about the pilgrims. I highly recommend this book.

I go to the Dalton school. That means I have a 3rd grade buddy. My 3rd grade buddy has a pen pal that lives in New Orleans. She wrote a paragraph about the relationship between her and her pen pal. Look down to read it.

The relationship between my buddy and I is growing after each letter goes back and forth. When I ask or answer a question I feel excited that I am learning something about another student who has a different experience in their education. I like that we are doing this by mail; it wouldn’t be the same if we were doing it another way. The daffodil planting at Isham Park was very fun to do and made me feel proud that I was helping other students with their education.

I have learned many things about my buddy and New Orleans. I know a little about the history of New Orleans, like it was the center of jazz and how Mardi Gras started. He mentioned some of the things he likes to do and the bands he likes. I know a bit about his family, like his mom and dad and his siblings and pets. I know about his birthday, friends, and his likes and dis-likes. I enjoy having a buddy that lives in a different part of the world and experiences different things.

When Jamie got home she was so mad at her sisters. She was a nice girl so to get her anger out she went to her diary. There she was comfortable. That was because she was writing about the boy that she likes.

One of her sisters, Jordan, was trying to find one of her necklaces in Jamie’s room and found her diary. Jordan found out about her sister going to dance with Mickey. Her parents had just left when Jamie was putting on her last item. Her charm bracelet. The charms had all of her favorite things and hobbies. On it there was a soccer ball, a bouncy ball to show her collection of bouncy balls, a little white dog, and a heart for good luck. After everything was set, Timmy, who had his license and a van, drove Jamie to the prom. “Have a good time!” said Timmy.
