Kansas

Kansas became more well-known after its mention in the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy, a young girl, grows up on a farm in a section of Kansas. She lives with her Aunt Em and her Uncle Henry. All she wants is to get back to Kansas because “ There’s no place like home.” This movie helped Judy Garland, who played the role of Dorothy, become a famous actress.

Amelia Mary Earhart was the first woman to earn a pilot’s license from the National Aeronautics Association. She grew up in Atchison, Kansas, and was born on July 24,1897. Amelia was one of the most famous pilots in the United States, because she also was the first women to fly across the Atlantic ocean alone. Sadly she disappeared on July 2, 1937, flying over the Bermuda Triangle.
