Lake Bonneville and the Great Salt Lake
32-14 thousand years ago there was an ancient lake named Lake Bonneville. For thousands of years Mountains contained the water in the lake. It was a fresh water lake averaging 1,000 feet deep. The lake was about 20,000 square miles big. The lake was formed by glaciers that melted and the water filled up the lake. The Great Salt Lake is the remaining part of Lake Bonneville. I got my information from the USGS website.
