Arkansas’ nickname is “The Natural State”. It is called that because it has beautiful mountains, valleys, lakes and streams. It has two forest preserves and two wildlife preserves. More than half of Arkansas is covered with trees and lakes. That is why Arkansas is called “The Natural State”.

Maryland was the first state to have religious freedom. Unlike the other states, you could be whatever religion you wanted. In other states you had to be a certain religion, but in Maryland there was choice. That’s how Maryland got it’s nickname “The Free State”. Maryland is a great state!
