Captive

Captive, a book by Joyce Hansen, is pure fiction but based on The Life of Olaudah Equiano. Captive is a good piece of Historical Fiction because it is good historically and fictionally. It is good historically because the author uses believable language, references to real places (ex. Boston, Massachusetts), real people (ex. Paul Cuffe), real dates in time (ex. March 1790) and uses authentic ways of life in her story.
It is good Fictionally because it uses metaphors and similes, has an interesting plot and has interesting characters who show a range of emotions. That’s why I think Captive is a good work of Historical Fiction.
