Oliver review

Yesterday 1/29/09 my grade saw the school play Oliver. The character that played Oliver was a girl! The person that played Bill Sykes is c17sp’s brother. The story is about a boy named Oliver Twist who lives in an orphanage owned by Mr. Bumble (who was very funny!). Then he is sold to Mrs. and Ms. Sowerberry. He escapes then is taken in by a group of pickpockets. You will have to watch it to find out the rest. Also, it was a very good play!

The New Day

Today, January 20, 2009, was a historic day. The first African American President, Barack Obama, was inaugurated in Washington D.C. I was impressed how many people were there. Obama must have been nervous from all of the people looking at him. I think that is why Chief Justice Roberts made a mistake on the oath, but Obama came back with a very heart warming speech. His family looked very proud of him. During the program I enjoyed the music by John Williams, and I noticed that the musicians were a diverse group of people. The quartet included a woman, an Asian American, an African American, and an old guy. The music and the musicians were like the world coming together through America. Also I most enjoyed the funny ending of the last speech by Rev. Lowry, “ when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man and when white will embrace what is right.”

I am happy that a new president is stepping in. I hope he will stop the bombing and bring peace to the world. I also hope he will fix the economy and bring strength back to America.

ORAL HISTORY

I created a book based on my dad as part of a year long study of immigration. I wrote it in school in 2008. I interviewed  my dad and learned some intriguing facts about his childhood growing up in a dfferent country. After the interview, edited it on the computer, laid it out into a book and drew illustrations. Finally, I made the end papers and published it. Then, voila, I had my own book about my dad’s immigration story. After we finished, we had a party to celebrate all the hard work we put into the books. I was very proud of my finished product.

my #1 post

Actually this is my point of view of someone’s blog he is c16km. He wrote about his buddies and Alice in Wonderland comic. I learned to not to write too long and to keep the story interesting. He sometimes used pictures to explain what he meant. He wrote at least once every week. Sadly enough he only got 6 comments in all from shark, himself, and Ms.Edinger.
