. I am so sad to say that this is my last blog post! After this my blog will be closed and I won’t be able to write anymore, and the class of 18 (the next Edinger House) will get their blogs! Continue reading them. I was so grateful that we got to have our own blog, it was awesome! If you don’t have one, then maybe someday you should get a blog to write what you want, when you want. Me and c17ar finished our Alice comics! We are now done studying Alice, but it was really, really fun. Comic life is fun to make comics on. See the Disney Alice and read the book to compare. There was a lot of information behind Alice’s Adventure!
I think that the MGM Wizard of Oz movie was a good adaptation of the book. It doesn’t include useless things like the dainty china city. I mean, what do they even do in the city besides, say hi to a china princess then leave? They don’t leave out really important things like how Oz is a humbug and things like that though. Who cares if the only witch in the movie is Glinda, the only thing the Witch of The North does, is kiss Dorothy and welcome her and stuff. Why can’t Glinda just do that, well she does in the movie. Anyways, the movie would be two hours and like, seventy minutes if every tiny detail was included. When you think of the book this is what most people think: Girl gets flown away in her house from a cyclone, meets munchkins, follows the yellow brick road, meets scarecrow who want brains, tin woodman who wants a heart, and a lion who wants courage, then they meet Oz who want them to kill the Wicked Witch of the West, they melt her, and see that Oz is a humbug, then they get what they want, and live happily ever after. I don’t think of the hammer heads, lion being king of the jungle, the china city and every thing else that was useless.
L. Frank Baum was an author known for getting straight to the point, but he adds a lot of things to get you to get more into it. He wanted to make it sound more fun and interesting, but sometimes he tried to hard. Plus, some of those things they just couldn’t have possibly done. Like the lion killing that spider creature, or them killing the wolves, bees, and crows. That would be way to scary, and violent for children’s fiction. Also the golden cap could be confusing. The movie was made a LONG time ago so the special features that the book needed in the movie could have been impossible to make happen. Read the book, and see the movie!
The North Carolina bird is a Cardinal. It became the state bird in March 4, 1943. Sometimes it is called the Winter Redbird because it is the most noticeable during winter. It is the most likely to be in gardens, meadows, and woodlands in North Carolina. Cardinals are seed eaters, but they also eat little fruits and maybe insects.
As you may know, North Carolina has a lot of mountains. It has many more besides Mount Mitchell, but Mount Mitchell is the highest peak of Appalachian, the highest point east of Mississippi. It was the highest point of each state of the USA until Texas joined the union in 1845.
The Oklahoma state Animal is the Buffalo. It was designated the state animal in 1972. It can weigh up to 1800 and stand 6 feet tall, but thats at the shoulder. No other wild animal has made such a role in human history. Native Americans were very familiar with buffalos and ox, bison and such, and there are quite a lot of Native Americans in Oklahoma. The oklahoma symbol is quite representative for Native Americans. Please respect that there are still Native Americans, from long time ago in America. Hope that you enjoyed this post!
The Oklahoma state fruit is the Strawberry. Different schools voted for it to be. About eight counties in Oklahoma grow strawberries. Now they have also thought about the Watermelon for being the runner up. The students practically came up with it, because they new about eight or more counties grow them. They are also the #1 for home plantings there (Oklahoma). Also the people there enjoy them a lot because of the sweet taste, they also have a lot of pecan pie, that is the state pie. They do also like to eat corn bread with their meals. Many strawberries can grow with one seed, and faster than an apple tree, which is the New York state fruit. Oklahoma gets hot in the summer and strawberries need warm, or hot weather just like other plants, any living thing should have sunlight.
