My Oral History Project
Making our Oral History books was difficult. First, we had to interview an immigrant, then transcribe our entire interview and highlight the important sections. Next, we made our book dummy. We laid out our book in a smaller version and sketched all of our pictures. At last, it was time to move on to our real book. We put in the final text and sketched our final pictures. The illustrations were like the book dummy, but they were bigger, and more colorful. When these steps were finished (which can take a while), it is time to make a cover and a dedication (optional).
My favorite part was drawing the pictures because I like art projects . Although it was difficult to create a book , I enjoyed every step of the way. In the process I learned how it feels to leave your home, friends, and country. My book explains true journey of a true Russian immigrant who came here with her family barley survived. Her experience took so much courage that I was excited to tell her story.

You’ve done a wonderful job of documenting the process of making your OH book. I especially like all of the very specific details you included. Nice work!
