Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! – Barbary

Newbery winner Laura Amy Schlitz wrote a book called Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Our class has a subject called Literary Salon and our teacher had the idea of reading the book and podcasting it, well that’s what you’re going to listen to in about a minuet. She gave us each a monologue that was from the book. My monologue is about Barbary, The Mud Slinger. The podcast is about that she has to brothers that go to the market… Well I don’t want to give away too much.

You might want turn on the volume a little of loud.

I got the authors name from Candlewick Press – Catolog .

Thanks for reading Barbary’s words. I’ll bet you’ve done some babysitting– you had that impatient but matter of fact tone down. It’s hard to imagine what life must have been like back then, but little kids haven’t changed a whole lot. They sure need a lot of care. I wonder sometimes if life now is so much easier with paper diapers and baby food in jars but we have alot more to worry about little kids. It just seems more complicated. But still a lot of work. Thanks again for helping me explore the Middle ages. We still get mad, don’t we? Carol

  2. Yea. Everybody gets mad and just needs to do that. (Mabey a little bit more me.)

  3. I just listened to your classmate’s podcast of Isobel’s side of this event. I thought there might be something Isobel wasn’t revealing. I’d already heard Edgar’s opinion of Simon, and I wondered if the villager’s didn’t like Isobel any more than Edgar liked the lord’s son. I think you did a good job of presenting Barbary’s frustration and also her remorse.

Do you like getting mad? I like to thump the table when I really really mean something, but being mad mad is awful. Carol
