Thank you for posting this. They don't have the book yet at my local library, and after hearing you read Alice's piece, I am looking forward to seeing the book even more.

I think Alice is one of my favorite characters. I really enjoyed hearing you read her words. She is such a tough girl and yet she has a heart. I think she is someone to admire. I don't know whether I would be able to save a sheep from death-- I have a hard time taking the spiders outside. It's great to hear the words and think about them in new ways. Thanks for reading. Carol

tb,

Did you like reading Margru's story? You already knew about the Amistad, but what was it like reading about a kid's experience?

I learned so much about the wetlands from your post, c16tb!

Tell us, what's it like having a buddy at Little Dalton? Do you and your buddy have anything in common?

Thanks for your woderfully insightful comments. Yes, you were correct in saying all you did about the storm and Miranda, but remember, Miranda is human too!

This is me!
I like that you added some of the French part in the book. It's good that you added some of the people in the book. (unlike me)
That just happens to be all, keep up the good work!

Hi! This is a rocking post. You might want to add the stuff that happens toward the end. Not the whole end but a taste. Do you like the book, is it one you would read for fun, or is it just a book that you did not enjoy?
If Edwidge Danticat read this book would she like it, or would she not like the part about that she's a girl? You (c16tb) forgot to add a concluding sentence!
I will sooooooooooooo come back later!

I'm glad that you could share this story about your grandmother. It is evident from your words and your pictures that she has quite a story to tell! I'll have to read your book now to find out more.

I like your summary, but how about giving us a good concluding sentence? Do you think this is a good work of historical fiction?
