Behind the Mountains

In Edinger House this year our biggest topic is immigration. We read historical fiction books and mine was called Behind The Mountains. This book is a very good example of historical fiction.I really liked this book about immigration. This book is based on the person who wrote the book, Edwidge Danticat, who is a girl, by the way. Behind the Mountains is about a girl named Celiane. She has brother named Moy and she calls her mother Manman aka Aline, her teacher’s name is Madam Auguste and her best friend’s name is Therese and they go to the same school. On page one there is an example of research of language the sentence is, “Ti liv mwen my sweet little book.” Beau Jour (where Celiane lived) was very mountainous. Another example poetic woman when it came to writing this book. Some examples are fog shifts, rain tapping on the tin roof, rainbow sun showers and golden sap.

  1. I like your summary, but how about giving us a good concluding sentence? Do you think this is a good work of historical fiction?

  3. Hi! This is a rocking post. You might want to add the stuff that happens toward the end. Not the whole end but a taste. Do you like the book, is it one you would read for fun, or is it just a book that you did not enjoy?
If Edwidge Danticat read this book would she like it, or would she not like the part about that she’s a girl? You (c16tb) forgot to add a concluding sentence!
I will sooooooooooooo come back later!

  4. This is me!
I like that you added some of the French part in the book. It’s good that you added some of the people in the book. (unlike me)
That just happens to be all, keep up the good work!
