Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!
My teacher was on the Newbery committee so she gave my class each a monologue from Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! by Laura Amy Schlitz because it won the Newbery award. My class each did a podcast of our monologues. We are all putting them on our own blogs. I read Drogo, the Tanners apprentice. Here is the podcast:

Drogo is so direct. You got his voice just right I thought. I like to think about how neatit is that everyone then knew how everything in their life was made. Today we buy shoes and flour and never see how it went from cowhides and wheat into something we use. I wonder how many of us could stand the stink if we had to do our own tanning. I think synthetics would be even more popular! The world was different, but they were just people like we are in some many ways. Thanks for reading this so I could hear about it again. Carol

sh, great job reading! It sounds like a complicated and very interesting book. Do you think you’d like to have a copy of your own? I haven’t read it yet, though I did take a glance in the library.

I like Drogo so much. I think this may be one of my favorites of the monologues. You sound as assertive as Drogo, and your delivery of that last couplet was spot on. Thanks.
