Fantastic Mr. Fox – Wes Anderson
Fantastic Mr. Fox was really a “fantastic” movie! Based, of course, on Roald Dahl’s book Fantastic Mr. Fox, it was really a nice change from the usual animated-cartoony thing people are so into nowadays. Here’s a summary of the movie for those of you who haven’t seen it yet (although you really should see it yourself): “Fantastic Mr. Fox” lives under a tree with his wife, his children, and for now, his son-in-law, Kristofferson. Years ago, he was caught in the act of stealing fowl, and now is he banned from doing so, by his wife. Unfortunately, because of his wild-fox nature, he can’t resist from going back to the chicken coop…
The movie is an adaptation of the real book, and so naturally, it’s a lot longer. The director had to stretch it out quite a bit, but in my opinion, it’s really “well stretched”- for example, the director adds in that Mr. Fox had been banned from stealing poultry, and also adds in that he has a son-in-law named Kristofferson, but really, I think these additions enhance the movie. And another really cool aspect of the movie was the way that it was made; it was like claymation, except the characters were fuzzy. I thought that it was pretty much appropriate for everyone, because it really wasn’t that violent or inappropriate or anything, and besides, the director replaced all the bad words with “cuss”! Altogether, I thought this was a terrific film, and if you liked the book, you’re sure to fall in love with this!
