My Cinderella Story

This is my Cinderella story! :) :)

A Little Time Ago

A little time ago, there was a girl named Isabella. She was kind, caring, clever, smart, had common sense, reddish long locks, bright green eyes, and everything a girl needs to survive life. Everything was great until the fight. Isabella and her twin Jessica watched as their parents fought and fought and fought. They were arguing about everything. Who paid for gas, who looked after the twins, everything. So after about a week they spilt up. Then, sadly, Isabella’s mom died of a disease. It was so sad that Isabella cried every night. It was MAJOR news.

In Los Angeles,13 YEARS LATER

“Dad! Who are these people in our house?” Isabella screamed so hard her lungs hurt.

“This is your new mother. You know how you have always wanted a mother, well here she is!” Isabella’s father, Jack said.

“WHAT??????!!!!!!!! A stepmother? Are you crazy? You know Cinderella’s stepmother! What if she’s like that, Huh? What then? And who are those kids even?” Isabella screamed.

“This is Mia, Michelle, Nick, and Nathan. Your new brothers and sisters,” Jack spoke proudly.

“Great! I have always wanted brothers and sisters.” Isabella said sarcastically.

“Good! Then we understand each other,” Miranda, the evil stepmother said.

LATER THAT NIGHT

“Okay well this is your guys room and this is mine,” Isabella said, pointing to each room.

“No. I need my own room. So does Mia. You get the attic. Go.” Michelle stomped her foot.

Isabella went up to her new attic room with all her possessions. She was very scared. What would these new people do to her? Would they make her do chores? Make her clean the gutter? She wasn’t sure. At that moment, Isabella needed her mother. She missed her mom. Isabella thought of happy things, and after about five minutes she went to sleep.

A BASIC SATURDAY MORNING, TWO YEARS LATER

“Isabella! Get me some coffee!” Nathan skretched.

“And get me some tea!” Mia yelped.

“Yes Nathan, yes Mia!” Isabella replied.

Isabella ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. She made the coffee and tea as fast as she could. She definitely did not want to keep them waiting. She sprinted up the stairs and gave Nathan and Mia their orders. After that she started doing her daily chores. Her father, sadly, out of nowhere had a heart attack. Because he was sick, he could not stop Miranda from being cruel. She had more chores than anybody in the house. As Isabella started doing her chores she heard a sound from her computer that went “You’ve got mail!” She ran up to her attic room and looked at her e-mail. It said:

Jake Prince’s Big Beach Bash
Today, at 8:00 to?
At Santa Monica Beach all welcome

As Isabella saw this she heard a loud scream. “Ahhhh! OMG! Finally it’s here! Jake’s Beach Bash! Yes!” Michelle and Mia screamed.

Isabella ran down the stairs and into the girl’s room. “Can I go to the beach bash?” Isabella mumbled. She did not want to get her sisters mad.

“Ya-NO! Of course you are not going. Are you crazy?” Mia and Michelle said.

Isabella ran up to her room and started to cry. All she wanted to do is go to that party. She had never felt this before.

LATER THAT EVENING

“Mother, the taxi is here!” Mia yelled.

“One sec dearie!” Miranda yelped.

“Come down mother!” Michelle screeched.

“Here I am!” Miranda declared.

“Isabella! You must clean the whole house. If not you will be severely punished. Mr. Prince is probably going to come home with one of my babies,” Miranda boasted.

“Okay. But may I go to the party after?” Isabella wondered aloud.

“Let me think??? Um I guess NOT!” the stepfamily screamed.

“Well good-bye then,” She said with glum in her voice.

She decided to go upstairs and cry for hours. She REALLY wanted to go to the party. “Why can’t go to the party????!!!!!!” She bawled out.

“You can go to the party!” said a mysterious voice.

“Who said that?” Isabella asked. Isabella went down the stairs and into the kitchen. She saw a person. Who was that? Is that? No it can’t be, she thought. But then she realized that the girl looked exactly like her. It must be her twin!

She smiled and walked over. “Me! Your twin! Guess what! You are going to that party. Now lets get going!” Jessica, Isabella’s twin, said with pride in her voice.

“Your name is Jessica right?” Isabella asked.

Jessica nodded.

“Okay, Well um, 1. I have nothing to wear. 2. I have no way to get there. 3. I don’t know how to dance!” Isabella replied.

“Um well, I bought you a dress to wear, and I have money for a cab, and I can teach you how to dance!”

Jessica exclaimed. “Okay I guess; Wait! Where were you this whole time??” Isabella asked.

“I was at a boarding school in Europe. Well, here is the dress and gold flip flops!” Jessica said pulling them out of her bag.

Isabella slipped on the dress and shoes. She looked so good, it happened to be amazing. She and Jessica were talking for a little while. Isabella liked her twin. She was nice.

“Jessica, can you call a cab please?” Isabella asked.

As Jessica called the cab, Isabella went to put her hair up. She did not want to look bad at the party. “There’s the cab! Go Go Go!” Jessica yelled.

“Yes, twin!” Isabella said with happiness in her voice. Because of all the drama lately, she didn’t remember she had a twin.

As Isabella got into the cab, Jessica yelled out: “Be back by twelve! That’s when the glitter of the dress starts to fall out!”

“Okayyyyy!” Isabella said, as the cab started moving.

As Isabella arrived at the party, everyone stared at her. She felt very overwhelmed. But after about a second, Jake ran over and asked: “Will you dance with me?”

“Sure!” Isabella smiled.

Jake was a very nice boy. He got good grades, was head of about all the sports teams, and was the most popular boy in school. All the other girls were very jealous.
Jake and Isabella danced all night. At about 11:58 Isabella looked at the clock. It was almost midnight! Isabella ran out of the party and dropped her most prized possession: Her gold flip-flop! She continued running, for she did not want Jake to see her glitter falling off. The cab left so she ran home. Luckily, she got there before the stepfamily did. She ran up to her room and went to bed.

The next day, Jake wanted every single teenager to go to his house to try on the shoe. So as soon as Isabella heard the news she ran to his house.

“Is this where I try on the shoe?” Isabella asked.

“Yes it is,” replied Jake.

Isabella slipped on the flip-flop and Jake was so shocked, he almost fainted. “I guess you are my soul mate!” Jake said softly.

After a few years, Jake and Isabella got married. They lived happly ever after.

THE END

Alice in Wonderland: Stage 1

We have been working on the book called Alice in Wonderland. We have:

  • Read it with Ms. Edinger. Each person looked at different books. Ms. Edinger read from the annotated Alice.
  • We watched some movies about it. We watched 1900 House, Betty in Blunderland, and The Young Visiters. (I thought that Charlie Chaplin was from the time but of course c16rb corrected me.)
  • We learned about Alice Liddell (Did you know that she actually had short black hair not long blond hair?)
  • We learned even more about Lewis Carroll. He told lots of stories to Alice and her sisters. Isn’t that so cool?
  • We also learned why he wrote the book. (He told the story to Alice and Alice said to write it down. After that was a miracle.)
  • We got partners and chose chapters from the book to draw comics of. I got “Pig and  Pepper.” It’s lots of fun!!!

This is a link to Betty in Blunderland.

Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! – Petronella

In class we looked at the book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! By Laura Amy Schlitz, and decided to have everyone do a person and perform it in front of the class. I did Petronella The Merchant’s Daughter, with Jacob Ben Solomon The Moneylenders Son (aka c16hh). We had a lot of fun doing it. We did it because our teacher was in the Newbery committee. Hope you like it!!!!

Amistad Poem

This is my Amistad Poem. Its was the ship the Africans came on. I made it from the point of view of Teme, (one of Margru’s friends). I wrote it all by myself.

Bring It On: In It to Win It

Bring it on: In It to Win It is about two cheerleading teams, who hate each other. When both of them go to the East Coast camp to battle it out, the rival camp/cheerleading squad the Falmingos, take the sprit stick. {Its a stick that the leader of the camp owns. Its very special and brings good luck.} The Sharks, one of the squads, think the other team, The Jets took it. There really mad, and then they see that the team from the other camp is REALLY good. So they combine teams, and become the Shets. Finally when the big cheer-off comes, The Falmingos are amazing. Its a really fun movie, and its really good.

I give this movie 5 stars.

Sarah Margru Kinson

I just read a book about Sarah Margru Kinson. My very own teacher, Monica Edinger wrote it. It is about a girl who had to leave Africa to go to America for slavery. She went through pretty tough times. When she was on the Amistad, when they gave her food, she thought they were going to eat her!!!! I thought that was a little strange personally. But, I can’t change what she thought. Sarah also had Kagne and Teme. {Two other girls from Africa.} I thought it was great, except I had some questions. Where are her parents??? Especially her father. I truly would want to know where my father is. Did he die? I really want to know. There are also very large words, like this long v word I don’t even know how to pronounce. I think it should be more like a children’s book, not like an adult’s book. And, it’s also like Cinderella. Mr. Tappan was the fairy-god mother. The reason that Mr. Tappan is the fairy-god is because he helped her very much. Other than those questions, I loved it.

NOLA BUDDIES / KD and buddy

Here’s my buddy, give her a round of applause!!!!!

NOLA Buddies

By AE
When I first heard I was getting NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana) buddies, I was so excited. It was like a dream come true. It is really fun having a NOLA buddy. You can write to them and share all of the interesting things that have happened to you. You can also write about your feelings. I have two buddies that are both really great. They both have a great sense of humor. One a boy and the other a girl. The boy really likes to play sports and write. Just like me!!! And the girl likes to make jokes. Again: Just like me. Both of my buddies are 9, there school is in Uptown New Orleans, and there school is named The Lusher School. Right now, our buddies are making a nursery for trees. How cool is that! The trees that they are growing are called Southern Bald cypress trees. You can find them in wetlands if you look closely. The reason they are growing these are because the Bald cypress tree is starting to disappear. One reason why that is a beaver like animal called the nutrea is gnawing them down. A couple weeks ago my teacher went to New Orleans to visit our class’s buddies. When she came back she brought with her videos of our buddies and… A king’s cake!!!! A king’s cake is a cake that is shaped like a big oval. It also has different colored sugars on it. The most exciting thing about the king’s cake is that there is a tiny, plastic baby inside the cake. Whoever gets the baby in their slice of cake is like a king/queen. But they have to something good for the community. Some of the things he/she could do are: Example, bring in a special food for the community or they could do helpful community service. The kings cake also very, very delicious! Now all there is to say is that I’m so glad that I have NOLA buddies.

That was my buddy, AE, and I just went to my lower school, First Program, and we had a fun time. We visited old teachers, had a snack, and really had a lot of fun. My buddy has two buddies in New Orleans and they are doing a project with them.

The Tempest?

Um, well, I just saw a play: The Tempest by Shakespeare, at The Dalton School and I guess it was at least okay. I thought it was VERY confusing at some parts, but at other parts it was pretty good I guess. The person who actually was amazing, an airy spirit, named Ariel and another girl named Miranda. They both were very good and should continue doing middle school plays. Some others should not. I give this play about 2 and a half stars.

Historical Fiction Story/ Letters from Rifka

Letters from Rifka by Karen Hesse is a book about a girl’s journey to America. In this book Karen Hesse does amazing poetic sentences like: ”I shiver at the cold of Poland.” Or: “I wanted to tell this skinny, pock-faced man he was wrong.’ Isn’t that so poetic? And she involves great facts like: There are many Polish Jews. Or that Rifka goes to Antwerp. If you want a great historical fiction book, I give this two thumbs up!

Letters From Rifka by Karen Hesse

This book is about a girl named Rifka and her journey to America. On her way she goes through terrible obstacles, like Typhus, stripping in front of doctors, and much more. But finally, when she feels like she is done with the obstacle course, she gets Ringworm. It is a scalp disease that makes you get sores in your scalp and lose you hair. Her family ends up going to America, and she must stay behind with a strange family, and must get a treatment that takes several months. But on the up side, she discovered ice cream, chocolate, she met people across the street, and becomes strong. She ends up being able to leave Europe and goes on the journey that many people have taken across the sea. She meets Pieter, a man who works on the ship, and becomes very fond of him. But then a terrible storm comes that blows him over board. Finally, she arrives in America. She meets a little Russian peasant named Ilya. Then in the last obstacle, she feels her head getting very itchy. Like Ringworm itchy. Finally she has her last doctor check, and he discovers something. Her hair has grown back! Its a tough story, but a good read!!!!!
