Pish Posh is an exciting book. This book is by Ellen Potter. Pish Posh is about a ultra snobby eleven year old named Clara Frankofile. Clara ’s parents Lila and Pierre own a restaurant named The Pish Posh but only famous people are aloud in the restaurant. Clara uncovers secrets of the restaurant. She gets help from a twelve year old jewel thief named Annabel and her dad. Clara discovers a huge secret about her soup chef Theodosia Pender or as she prefers Audrey Aster. Clara also find out that her father is not Pierre Frankofile it is Marvin Bumf. This book is mysterious but interesting and very enjoyable too.
Hello, Good Masters Sweet Ladies:
Okay here is the 411, have you heard of the book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! by the Newbery winner Laura Amy Schlitz? My teacher Monica R. Edinger decided that we should do a Literary Salon (that means when someone in the classroom brings in treats and other kids read and the kids who don’t do anything just listen and eat). So my friend K.D. and I did it together. I was Jacob Ben Solomon the Jew. K.D. was Petronella the merchant’s daughter. This was about how Jacob met Petronella at the river. first they don’t like each other but then they play for a half an hour. If you want to hear it, look below.
American Idol is the most watched show in America! The host of the show is the brilliant Ryan Seacrest. Our judges are Randy Jackson, the nice one, Paula Abdul, the says yes to everything one, and Simon Cowl, the extremely mean one. American Idol as a whole is about a singing competition. Many people enter but only one wins. Right now it is season seven and our top 20 contestants are amazing, but Simon (as usual) is criticizing them. American Idol is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Thursdays on channel Fox at 8:00pm. You should watch it because it’s an interesting show. My mom used to not like American Idol and now she loves it. (And Paula if you read this I know you’ll be proud.)
Sarah Margru Kinson was an African American who got pawned from Africa. She is an inspiration to us all because she came back to Africa. Yes she did. She believed that she could come home with her family. She believed hard enough and she came home! Isn’t that truly amazing? The literature was amazing, here’s some examples: “My face is puffy from crying” and “It dragged on through.” I liked on she used language other than “it went on” to describe how long Margru was a slave. Think about it! A seven to nine year old girl as a slave in America. I think that is cruel. Shame on us. I promise never to do something like that again but the question is will you promise? This book is by Monica R. Edinger my teacher.

My third grade buddy has a pen pal in the New Orleans. They write to each other. “I love having a Nola buddy, it’s good to know my fourth grade buddy nows about my Nola buddies life!” It must of been scary for the Nola buddies I know I would this is what my third grade buddy wrote.
When I found out that I had a New Orleans buddy I didn’t know what to think. I was very excited, but also very nervous. I was also very happy because I never had this experience before. It’s good to know I have a friend so far away. It’s fun to learn about my Nola buddies life. I love having a Nola buddy! New Orleans is in Louisiana, the Lusher school is in New Orleans, and our buddies are 3rd grade children. They celebrate Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday) it was February 5th, the day right before Ash Wednesday. New Orleans was hit by a hurricane, Katrina, in 2005. The most water damage was from the breaking of levees. We have been studying our buddies for a little while now, and they have learned about us too.
I hope you enjoy the Nola buddy post. Thanks for reading this.

I thought the Dalton School’s middle school play was great. I thought every one was good but my favorite characters were Ariel, Miranda, the drunk butler and jester. They were hysterical. It was a lovely story and I wish I was in it. Some people didn’t quite get it in my class with the thou’s and stuff. I did because my younger brother was in the play Macbeth last year. But it was a great play honestly.
Letters From Rifka by Karen Hesse is a wonderful book of historical fiction. It’s about an immigrant and her family on their journey to America. But Rifka gets left behind cause she has ringworm. In every letter to Rifka’s cousin Tovah Rifka writes what happens the past week. Karen Hesse uses good literary language. For example on page 4 she writes, “His dimple vanished as quickly as it came.” Or on page 8, “My heart beat in my throat where my voice should be.” And finally, “Ilya’s eyes flashed with anger.” Karen Hesse did a good job researching this book. She learned about ringworm, about life on the ship, and what might happen to an immigrant like Rifka when she arrived with a bald head (she might get sent back because they worried she wouldn’t get married and the government would have to take care of her). I really recommend the book Letters from Rifka.
Now that I’m more experienced I know what to do. Now we have to write about a paragraph about are immigration book we did for a school assignment. My book is about my baby sitter from Jamaica. I’ve known her for about two years! Its about her journey from warm weather to iceberg island (New York). She came alone all by herself, how would you feel if you had to go on a plane all by yourself? Scary right? Luckly she had family in New York. So any way I think you should read it well if you get a chance. The book is called Home Sweet Home

Today we’re getting a blog but we have to write about the people from last year.UGH! Well I don’t think it will be that bad. I got assigned to c15ck and I got to see her Cinderella story, Plymouth Rock story (it sounds really fun I hope its better then Camp Sloane) and what books she’s read. I really happy that I’m getting a blog but I’m upset that I can’t write to Ms. Ladybug (Edinger) in my journal. I’m so excited, this is going to be really fun.
