Good Master! Sweet Ladies!
Hello, Good Masters Sweet Ladies:
Okay here is the 411, have you heard of the book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! by the Newbery winner Laura Amy Schlitz? My teacher Monica R. Edinger decided that we should do a Literary Salon (that means when someone in the classroom brings in treats and other kids read and the kids who don’t do anything just listen and eat). So my friend K.D. and I did it together. I was Jacob Ben Solomon the Jew. K.D. was Petronella the merchant’s daughter. This was about how Jacob met Petronella at the river. first they don’t like each other but then they play for a half an hour. If you want to hear it, look below.

This is one of my favorite pieces from Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! I love the back and forth between the two characters, and the moments of overlapping dialogue.
How fun to hear it performed!
Thanks for sharing it.

What a great job you did reading this together! It’s hard to do with just one person, but you really got the duality clear. I’m impressed. And it was great to hear about a friendship developing in medieval times just like our friendships develop today. Carol

Yes. That was good. Thank you both. I loved it when the stone skipped on the water.
